1/5: The Labour Party bullied, intimidated & abused its left wing members for years. Labour politicians who said nothing about that, and in some cases participated in it, are now accusing lefties of bullying, intimidating & abusing them.
Examples from my YouTube channel follow.
2/5: The lovely Stephen Marks who was a long time Labour member and former county councillor was abused by Labour's disciplinary processes and bullied out of the Party.

1/6: This University of Warwick report on antisemitism is helpful.
On definitions of antisemitism such as the IHRA, the authors write: "incorporating these definitions into the contractual obligations of members of the Universities is legally unsafe". jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk/app/uploads/20…
2/6: They are clear on the law: "It is illegal to treat a definition of antisemitism as a legal code that applies to conduct directly, and it is illegal to fail properly to account for free speech obligations in assessing whether speech or academic work violates the law."

*Important thread*
Labour right factionalism in Hackney has led to a crisis
The leadership of Hackney North have been removed by Party staff for asking questions about safeguarding after a candidate arrested for possessing images of child abuse was elected as a councillor
(1/6)
The statements in the tweets above come from left wing members of Hackney Labour Party who have tried to raise concerns internally and been aggressively shutdown both by right wing members locally, including councillors, and by Party staff.
Some key points follow.

I tell her I am Jewish & that I agree with a zero-tolerance approach to antisemitism, but the party is so gung-ho that it is now labelling people antisemitic who simply aren’t – & there is a danger of destroying lives in the process.
“I don’t know the details of that case. But...
“it is so important that we are seen to – and we do – tackle antisemitism. Ken Loach, you might like his films, but his views … certainly, they are not ones I share.”
That doesn’t make him antisemitic, I say.
“You don’t think Ken Loach is antisemitic? ... I think we might have..

(1/11) It has become commonsense to compare the UK left to the Nazis. Such comparisons get no significant pushback. This thread gives 10 examples. I discuss these and their impact in my most recent video.

(1/7) David Baddiel says that he doesn't care about Israel and feels no connection to it. But his indifference does not mean that #jewsdontcount and antisemtism have nothing to do with Israel. A thread...
(2/7) Baddiel holds 'progressives' responsible for contemporary antisemtism, even that coming from the far right, on the grounds that they treat other forms of racism differently and largely ignore anti-Jewish racism.

(1/10) The broadcast version of episode 2 of #LabourFiles on Labour's 'antisemitism crisis' has some good stuff but lacks a coherent narrative and leaves out the Panorama documentary and EHRC report. This thread details what's in the longer online version.
(2/10) The online version refutes both the overall narrative of the Panorama 'hit job' on Labour antisemitism and individual points e.g. it contrasts ex-staffer Ben Westerman saying he was asked if he's from Israel with audiorecording of him being asked which branch he's from.

(1/7) It's worth watching the extended version of #LabourFiles part 1 linked below. There is more background on all of the cases. But if you don't have time, here's a short thread of some key details that are missing from the version broadcast last night.
(2/7) @angelaeagle was asked before Labour HQ suspended her onstituency Labour Party, Wallasey, in summer 2016. She supported doing it and the staff member responsible said in emails that the suspension was to give Angela Eagle time to organise against local activists.

(1/4) Under Corbyn, about a third of the active members in my Labour branch were Jewish. All of them are on the left. Now only one of those is still active in the party. Some quit because of how antisemitism is being handled under Starmer. He's not making the party unsafe for us.
(2/4) In Nov 2020, having had two motions on Corbyn's suspension blocked, we voted on a statement of solidarity with Jeremy. It passed 15 to 2. All 6 Jewish members present backed it. The motion was blocked from debate by the constituency in the name of making Jews feel welcome.

The lovely thoughtful @tonylerman talks to me about his new book 'Whatever happened to antisemitism?'
He explains how antisemitism has been redefined, Israel's role in that and the devastating consequences for the Palestinian struggle
This is the first interview on my channel. I'm thrilled that it's with Tony. And I'm looking forward to seeing how people respond to it, even the trolls.

This thread is part of the account from @EagletonOliver's book 'The Starmer Project' of John McDonnell's role in pushing Labour towards remain. There's a lot more detail in the book, which is both well written and informative. I hope this thread encourages people to read it.
After Corbyn won the leadership the second time in 2016, he wanted a shadow cabinet that rewarded loyalty and minimised hostility but didn't just contain Corbynites. McDonnell pushed for Starmer on the grounds that his inclusion would legitimise the leadership with other MPs.

I've just submitted this response to a notice of investigation from the Labour Party accusing me of antisemitism.
For background on the so-called accusations against me, see the links in the next two tweets in this thread.
Big thanks to all who've supported me on Twitter.
This thread details all 14 pieces of evidence cited by the Labour Party as proof that I'm antisemitic
I'm being investigated by Labour for action that "undermines the Party’s ability to campaign against racism" and "may reasonably be seen to involve antisemitic actions, stereotypes and sentiments". Summary charges are below with links to the 14 items in the rest of the thread.
