There's an article I've read 3 times over the last 10 years which draws conclusions about the internet by looking at the introduction of the printing press. It's interesting to see them together: Shows how opinions have evolved and how the same info can be interpreted differently 1/ The first was @adamgopnik's 2011 review of a few books about the current state of technology. This is my favorite of the genre and offers three categories of technology interpretation: "Never-Betters, the Better-Nevers, and the Ever-Wasers." newyorker.com/magazine/2011/…

Finally finished my favorite reads of 2019 list. It's 56 articles across 13 categories. It's not an attempt to find the "best articles", but rather the ones that stuck with me the most. noahbrier.com/archives/2020/… I hope you'll read the whole thing, but here are my 13 picks in no specific order.

1/ @jessefrederik & @mauritsmartijn's excellent piece about all the problems with digital advertising. It's an article I wish I had written myself. thecorrespondent.com/100/the-new-do…

I plan to write this up properly on the blog, but there have been a series of plagues sweeping through my house over the last two weeks and I haven’t been able to sit at a computer. So here, in a few tweets, are five favorite books I read in 2018. Going into the year I made a decision to read books instead of articles. I may still have read enough to do a best longform of 2018, but almost all my reading time this year went to books (got through 50 of them). FWIW, here’s last years article list: noahbrier.com/archives/2018/…
