If we use our current values about race & gender as a measure, practically all statues,& portraits of former presidents should be removed from public squares & govt buildings. Also Huckleberry Finn should be banned bc the N word is splattered on every page.nyti.ms/3hOf5SB
Racism is in the DNA of many U.S presidents. Washington, Jefferson,Madison, Monroe, Jackson among others owned slaves. TR & Wilson were openly racists. Nixon & Reagan were bigoted. Even LBJ used racist references in private. Some were historic if flawed & imperfect like America.
