Seems like an appropriate time to remind reporters that “late-term abortion” is a completely made up phrase that has no basis in medicine (which, hi, abortion is just health care). A pregnancy is “full term” from 39-40 weeks, and “late term” at 41 weeks. Calling a 15 or 20 week abortion “late term” is another way for anti-abortion people to scare the uninformed and shame pregnant people for the decisions we make about our own bodies — so that they can get away with legislating those decisions for us. It’s about control over us.
