I can only speculate...but why not, everyone else on twitter does!

1. Flawed arithmetic around the value of face-to-face collaboration over employee quality of life
2. Long-term corporate leases need to be justified to stockholders
3. Soft layoffs
4. Retention through control First, I think a few individuals are overvaluing the advantages of in-person collaboration. Admittedly, for some situations, it can be better. And some people prefer it. But I'd argue it's maybe 10-15% better. Whereas remote work is an 100% increase to quality of life for many.
