Our GPU organ plays music acoustically by controlling the RPM of each fan

The Call is now open to the public until February @SerpentineUK in Hyde Park London Image
It plays along with music generated from a diffusion model that creates new songs based on the (volunteered) training data of choirs from across the UK

It holds a symbolic AI score generating model encased in brass, that can generate infinite scores for it to play Image

Our @spawning_ concept for how to deal with fair attribution and compensation of training data

I want to build a harmonious future for artists and AI that balances experimentation and consent ♥️

We have an opportunity to get this right Image @spawning_ when dealing with AI models, familiar concepts like sampling/appropriation are can be a guide, but are ultimately insufficient. We cannot approach a new problem in the same way.

Ideally we do not want punitive DRM, or carte blanche appropriation of artwork from living artists

We've started an organization (@spawning_) to help artists navigate this new AI era

It will be chaotic and emotional, but ultimately I think that non AI artists need options to see themselves thriving in (and not steamrollered by) the AI art economy

Full announcement soon! @spawning_ I spent 2016-2019 trying to reconcile the challenges raised by AI generation systems with my own art, and gave countless interviews insisting this moment was coming quickly. It is here, to stay!

DALL-E is not a scam, but is a new substrate that requires new approaches to IP (see Holly+)

2016-2019 I tried to alert everyone to the importance of rethinking attribution and payment habits re: AIs trained on artist data. I hope it is clear now why!

PROTO was composed in parallel to my doctoral thesis written on vocal IP and AI, and for the album I made efforts to only train systems on people who consented, from ensemble members to large public training performances like this one

Just came back from @SonarFestival where I shared our AI work with @hollyplus_ in a performance/lecture with the incredible @mariaarnaldimas @tartarelena @matdryhurst & @Macroscopist

I thought I would share it here, and our thesis on Spawning 🧫 and Identity Play 👩‍❤️‍👨 I started by showing the production work I contributed to @mariaarnaldimas and Marcel Bagés album 'Clamor', where I timbre transferred Maria's voice into various instruments using @GoogleMagenta powerful DDSP.

The ornamental singing style really demonstrates the detail! 🎻

There have been questions about IP with Holly+

Anything that you make is yours! You can release it with no permission. Enjoy it 🌹

If you want to submit it for official approval, there will be a way very soon to do that, and the DAO will help to showcase the work there are more tools that are coming to do other fun things with the voice, and the same principle will apply!

My hope is that in participating with the DAO, it will be easier for people to find and enjoy the artworks and a more fun experience

Ok wow this is finally happening 🤯

Meet Holly+ my digital twin 👭

I built an instrument with @HeardSounds where anyone can make music with my voice 🗣

and I am starting a DAO to govern my digital likeness🪞

I can’t wait to hear what y’all make! 🌹

Holly.plus I’m working with @ourZORA to create a place where people can own artworks made with my voice 🦾

and will be using the @OpenLawOfficial Tribute DAO framework so friends and family can vote on official usage, and how to use the proceeds to fund new tools to share with everyone 🛠

I understand that the most popular "playlists" are algorithmically curated to listener taste - these are impossible to analyze as they aren't uniform or transparent.

Taste is based upon discovery, and Spotify's main discovery editorial playlist features 48/50 artists on majors. it is in Spotify's interests to dominate discovery. If algorithms perpetuate that initial trend no doubt personal playlists will echo thosse initial recommendations.

It's in Spotify's interests for magazines and labels to disappear too.

Top playlists on Spotify. Each curated by anonymous Spotify employees.

Fans don’t decide who thrives, you do. Why perpetuate this myth it only makes people feel the responsibility is on them, like the world is equal and they aren’t trying hard enough.

Platform gaslighting.
