I’m not saying this is the only reason for the difference between Fetterman and Shapiro, but analysis that misses this is mind-numbing: Mastriano spent $2M on TV ads — aka functionally nothing in a large state like PA. Shapiro spent $45M.

Mastriano didn’t show up for the fight. A lot of people on here don’t seem to appreciate that a statewide campaign in a large state like PA is driven in large part by TV ads. (See everyone talking about Fetterman memes vs. ads.) Those of us who live in the Philly media market unfortunately can’t escape that reality!

New: State party leaders & DNC members are alarmed over Biden’s decision to make his ex-campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon one of the key players in charge of his political portfolio — they view her as a culprit in the kneecapping of the DNC under Obama. politico.com/news/2021/01/1… "I do not perceive Ms. O'Malley Dillon as being an ally to the grassroots. I would like to be proven wrong," said one DNC member.

"She’s a Beltway person, not a grassroots investor, and treats us all like village idiots frankly," said another.

New: "My life literally flashed before my eyes": More than three dozen Democrats in the House are calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, pointing to his role in inciting rioters to storm the Capitol on Wednesday.

w/ @lbarronlopez politico.com/news/2021/01/0… Rep. Mondaire Jones also told us “the people responsible for the security of the United States Congress today have to be investigated ... I was locked on the House floor for a significant period of time and with very little security." politico.com/news/2021/01/0…

New: Bernie Sanders fears President Donald Trump will refuse to leave office if he loses reelection and is calling on Congress and the media to take action to prepare for that scenario now, he told me in an interview. “This is not just idle speculation." politico.com/news/2020/09/0… Sanders will give a speech on the issue in the near future, and send an email to his large list of supporters about it today. "What we have got to do in the next two months is to alert the American people about what that nightmarish scenario might look like in order to prepare."

New: Bernie Sanders is eyeing Rep. Pramila Jayapal & former MI gubernatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed — both top Medicare for All advocates — for his task force w/ Joe Biden focused on health care, according to ppl familiar w/ his plans. w/ @AliceOllstein politico.com/news/2020/04/2… It’s not final, but they’d be a radical change from policy thinkers in Biden’s orbit. Sanders adviser Jeff Weaver said the Biden-Sanders health care task force will likely discuss lowering the Medicare eligibility age to 55 & making a universal health insurance program for kids.

Bernie Sanders proposes that the government "empower Medicare to cover all medical bills during this emergency." This "is not Medicare for All — we cannot pass this now." But it would cover uninsured, underinsured, those who have high deductibles, high co-payments, etc., he says. Sanders is also proposing activating armed forces to build mobile hospitals and testing facilities, expanding community health centers, using the Defense Production Act to produce needed supplies, and much more.

So far, he hasn't commented on the elections whatsoever.

NEW: The president of LULAC says Bernie Sanders has “barrio cred.” Sanders has @AOC’s support. And polls show he’s leading or tied among Latino voters.

Why Sanders is making a big bet that Latinos will play a key role in helping him win, w/ @lbarronlopez. politico.com/news/2019/10/3… The fact that Joe Biden is counting on strong support from black voters is widely known. Less understood is the similar bet that Sanders is making on Latino voters: His campaign believes driving up turnout among Latinos and expanding the community’s electorate is critical to win.
