My wife and I started a home cleaning co out of our garage 2.5yrs ago.🏡🧹🧼

She did 7 cleans by herself the first month.

Now our team of 20 cleans 350+ homes every month and we’re doing over $1m/yr in revenue.

It’s been a lot.🤯 Here’s some things we’ve learned: DISCLAIMER: I’m no guru. I don’t have a course to sell, and we didn’t follow any system to build our company. We just show up every day, work hard, and care a lot. It’s hard, but it’s working so far.

People liked the thread I wrote last year, so I decided to do another.

When people hear that my wife and I have a cleaning business w/14 employees, their first question is always some form of “Where do you find these people?” with a skeptical head tilt. Like we’ve hacked the system and we’re tricking people into working for us. Our secret 👇 🧵 WE CREATED A JOB WORTH HAVING. 🤯
We pay top-of-market and use a 3mo raise schedule. We offer health/dental/vision/massage benefits. No nights or weekends. Minimal management that treats you like a grown up. Training: thorough. Expectations: clear.

🧽 My wife, @bec_berggren, and I started a home cleaning biz out of our garage with $1,000. 18mo later, we’re doing $30k/mo with 8 employees, an office, and a waiting list that’s always full.

Here are some things we’ve learned:

(I’ll update this thread over time) Background: we’re high school sweethearts from Illinois farm country. I’m a systems/tech nerd with a background in sales. She’s a roll-up-your-sleeves hustler with a servant’s heart. I went to college for audio engineering. She went to cosmetology school.
