I went to a seminar run by @IllustrateMath yesterday entitled ‘Racial Justice in Math/s Education’ and I want to offer some thoughts and reflections. Might you listen for a moment?
1. President of @IllustrateMath and maths education researcher Bill McCallum quoted Bob Moses in saying that mathematical literacy is a civil right. He suggested that we have made promises about disrupting racial injustices in the susten, but not yet delivered on them.

I’ve been thinking about some questions people often ask me or things they don’t understand about my sexuality (the technical term for this stuff is bi-erasure).
For example, ‘how can you be queer when you were married and have (biological) kids?’
We see this in the media all the time too. Characters on tv are assumed to be heteronormative (attracted to ‘opposite’ gender exclusively) and then if they behave otherwise, everyone does a huge double take. ‘WHAT? So you’re..GAY now?’
