There are many flavours of innovation :
1) Business Innovation : Amazon, Facebook and most SM companies are business innovators.. They are not driven by their patents but by innovative business models ! @madhurgupta121 @jagachchhishya @vivekagnihotri 2) Product innovation : within product innovation there are 2 flavours - Hardware and software . Hardware product driven companies like Samsung really need patents to protect their innovations which may be generational (breakthroughs, major improvements) or incremental in nature.
