Twitter's SEC filings are accurate. Musk's fanboys don't read them. Twitter has expensive lawyers who draft its SEC filings. It has other expensive lawyers who review them.

Twitter's filings contain the 5% claim. It also contains an explicit caveat that it might be wrong. This is as close as anyone will ever get to seeing Elon Musk admit he fucked up: offering flimsy, transparently stupid objections. Insisting to the world that Twitter lied to him, when it didn't.

He's not trying to save face. He's trying to drive down Twitter's share price.

Some important things to keep in mind:

American Jews are not Israelis.

American Jews don't have a whole lot of influence over Israel.

American Jews aren't usually directly affected by events in Israel.

American Jews are directly affected by American antisemitism. In fact most anything happening in America will more directly affect American Jews than anything in Israel.

That's not to say we don't have opinions about Israel, even strong ones. It's just that there's inevitably a prioritization.

Listen, I mean, do you want Bibi out of power or not

Because between this and the White House readout of the call, I'm getting the sense that Biden's state department is convinced Israel absolutely does not need foreign pressure right now. That's gonna backfire. Over the past 3 days, Israel has received about half as many rocket attacks as were launched at them in the whole of 2019. If the UN or Biden starts prattling on about settlements, how do you think that plays?

Things Ali wants added:

Condemning Israel for:
(1) forced evictions
(2) escalating tensions at the Temple Mount
(3) airstrikes in Gaza
(4) the killing of Palestinian children
(5) illegal settlements Let's talk about this. First of all, it's not clear to me that this was a routine call, rather than one spurred by recent events. So that makes (5), which is a persistent longstanding issue, kinda beside the point.

This is blunt, but there is some truth there. The public observes a disparity between the rocket attacks and Israeli airstrikes.

Hundreds of rockets have been launched. We could reach 1,000 before week's end. It feels like Hamas is throwing everything it's got. And with only a handful of precise air strikes, Israel seems to match the death toll. This feels fundamentally unfair. To some degree you wonder if Hamas prefers it that way, forever the underdog, as they terrorize Israeli civilians and brutalize their Gazan subjects.

Is anybody seriously arguing that the public health guidance does not reflect the viewpoint that if you take all the precautions these experts take your risk is low? Feels like Matt might be. Nancy Pelosi needs 72 more votes than she currently has to pass articles of impeachment.

Stop telling her how to do her job. Get on the phone with your reps and do yours. Huh. This went places. I don't even know what a soundcloud is, but you can check where your Rep stands here: politico.com/interactives/2…

I'm gonna give myself a stress headache, but okay, here we go. I want to point out the ridiculous shit in this article: thenation.com/article/aipac-… The first paragraph implies that the respective Party leadership was acting at the behest of AIPAC, rather than attempting to quell (Dems) or exploit (GOP) a genuine public backlash.

lol, ok, let's do this

Because it was a campaign issue, she promised she would, and presumably, the people of California who elected her wanted her to do so.
