That letter from NHS WTE in response to the BMA signed by @NavinaEvans and @NHSEnglandNMD talked about having 60,000 more doctors and 12,000 PAs by 2034/5

A ratio of 5:1 it says

I thought I would dive deeper into this, it’s readability and possible other options 🧵 There are 44 courses offering PA degrees in the U.K.

Let’s say that they on average have 30 students per year

That’s 44*30 = 1,320 PAs per year graduating as it stands Image

Female doctors -a question

I advise doctors who reach out to me for career advice. Naturally ive talked to quite a few female doctors.

I’ve heard of bullying/poor culture claims from all doctors, but from the female doctors, they specifically said nurses bullying them?

I’ve been hesitant to post this but it was a pattern and it concerned me. The doctors haven’t usually flagged anything to the organisations as they have their worries around their training, ARCP and just want to get through the shit show of training in one piece. Is this a general thing or are the ones that I’ve come across just truly truly unfortunate? Some experience from a female colleague but also some good suggestions for solutions.

Who owns this problem at national level?

As NHS bring in McKinsey to help them understand why productivity is down despite extra cash and more staff, I explore why reducing the collective skillset and knowledge base of our workforce; doctors, nurses, PAs, pharmacists etc has been key in this 🧵

thetimes.co.uk/article/nhs-wa… Background about the productivity challenge:

1) Feb 2011 - 2.9% of attendees in AnE waited more than 4 hours

Pre pandemic Dec 2019 - it was 20.2% of attendees

Dec 2022 - its 35% of attendees waiting over 4 hours

1/ Public funding to support the UK economy during the pandemic was massive, with the Bank of England's Asset Purchase Facility reaching £895bn, equivalent to six years of NHS England spending.

But who benefited?

Spoiler alert: the wealthiest 0.1%

🧵 2/ Government support represented an unprecedented transfer of capital from the public to the private sector, raising questions about who benefited and who suffered.

Congratulations to Man City for winning the @premierleague

Hands down this is the best team the premier league has ever seen.

What a season by @ErlingHaaland.

There has been much talk about #FFP Financial Fair Play.

Most fans do not understand it - I will simplify it Image Currently there are 115 allegations against Manchester City for over the last decade. Some of which they have probably already paid/served penalties for.

For simplicity,I am going to not consider any foul play and delve deep into these allegations, but just explain it very simply

Agency spend in the @NHSuk is 6.5% of the wage bill. This is a stark diagnostic indicator of a failing NHS.

A private nursing home/care provider (from my experience of running over 400 beds in the UK) would be deeply worried if agency spend was over 1.2% of wage bill Why the worry?

- Lack of continuity of care for patients
- Shows a clear problem in staff recruitment and retention
- Problem in culture could be underlying cause
- Less knowledge of systems and processes
- Less ownership of care; impacting documentation, communication

There has been debate from all sides about recent
@NHS strikes by @TheBMA @BMA_JuniorDocs @theRCN vS @DHSCgovuk @SteveBarclay

The government has a duty to the tax payers to spend in the best way possible for the country.

Here is how a 20% rise in wages ACROSS the NHS impacts 🧵 The current NHS staff bill is £56 billion per year.
Approximately 47% of the entire NHS budget
