Getting enough protein in India has been a challenge. I have to be very mindful about it because meals here are 90% carbohydrates and fats with barely ANY protein.

So my macros have definitely shifted to be more carb heavy. This is fine for now since I am physically active. But one interesting observation is that when my meals are more carb dominant, I snack more. I eat and then get hungry again with 1-2 hours and feel the need to eat again.

Why is this? Let’s me explain... The thermic effect of carbs is about 5-10%, and this much lower than protein’s thermic effect, which is about 20-30%.

But what does that mean?

When I got off birth control after 13 years of taking it every single day, I stopped getting my period. One month passed, then two, six, and eventually a year, but I still didn’t get my period. It was devastating. I did what anyone in my position would do...consult numerous doctors. They immediately diagnosed me with PCOS and suggested that I go back on birth control. 🤔

Indians love to reuse cooking oil to save money. My aunts in India do this ALL this time. They'll make a fried dish and then reuse the oil for cooking.

This is a horrible practice. It might save money in the short run, but will cost a lot more in hospital bills later on in life. When we heat oil, it oxidizes and produces free radicals. Reusing oil multiple times increases the number of free radicals and makes the oil more toxic.

A female’s physiology is centered around reproduction. Reproduction can only happen if there is an abundance of energy to carry out the processes (eg. ovulation).

The body needs a constant input of nutrients to be able to carry it out.

Fasting does the opposite of that. When a person fasts, they purposely do not give the body enough calories, which then forces the body to enter survival mode.

When picking up a new skill, there are some parts which will feel very "hard"

Our initial reaction is to feel discouraged... especially when you tried your best and still feel like you just aren't getting it This is usually when people will avoid working on that part...and instead focus on doing the things they are good at.

You may make some progress by just working on the things you are good at, but at some point, the unaddressed hard parts will become barriers to further progress

To become an expert at a skill or subject, you have to go beyond the obvious and uncover the "hidden game"

As you learn, you have to look past the surface details and start recognizing the deeper, more abstract principles that underlie the thing you are learning For example, if you are learning how to swim, the surface level goal is to swim fast...

But the "hidden game" includes:

- Different stroke techniques
- Breathing patterns
- Core strength
- How to streamline for less resistance
- Pacing

etc.

People are always amazed at how well behaved my German Shepherds are.

Here’s my approach:

1) Take them for 3 walks daily

With my 1-year old Shepherd, I walk 80-90 mins with him everyday. My young puppy probably gets like 30 mins of walking a day 2) Be a leader

Dogs are incredibly stubborn and you cannot let them think they are more alpha than you. YOU have to be the leader. You are in charge. Not them.

Things that happen after a newborn comes into your life:

1) You consider a 3-hour stretch of sleep a great thing

2) You become a master of doing things with one hand, including cooking, cleaning and typing 3) Your hearing gets 10x better. You can hear your baby’s cry from 100 feet away

4) You sleep with one eye open and one ear listening

Things I like about Texas so far:

1) Everything is bigger

Especially nice when it comes to living space. A spacious home makes me feel more free and creative. 2) People are way friendlier

Everyone says hello when you walk by. Moreover, the people feel more genuine, unlike LA, SF or most cities I have lived in

I also love that people take a lot of pride in being a Texan

Ethereum developer tooling landscape Unlike 2017 when the 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 sucked, Ethereum developers now have a range of tools that enable them to 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 more efficiently and securely.

Web3 is growing at a mind blowing rate.

We need more smart contract engineers to help build the underbelly of Web3.

But hiring them is a long, time consuming process.

Here’s why: Writing secure smart contracts is a mission-critical task that requires an incredible level of precision and attention to detail.

After all, smart contracts, once deployed, cannot be mutated.

This demands great skill from the smart contract engineer.

We are looking for a couple Web 3 companies and funds to offer scholarships for aspiring Web 3 devs to join DappCamp.

Scholarships are given to strong candidates who cannot afford the course. We have had great success with the scholarship program in the past where students went onto get full-time jobs, internships, and even launch their own crypto projects.

People confuse 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐦𝐬 𝐯𝐬. 𝐬𝐲𝐛𝐢𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐬

eg. You will hear people say that "Proof-of-Work" or "Proof-of-Stake" is a consensus algorithm... but they are NOT.

They are sybil resistance mechanisms. To understand the difference, let’s start by understanding the definition of each.

“𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞”

Most people have no idea what that means. So let’s break it down together. To understand what makes Ethereum Turing complete, we have to first understand the “𝐄𝐕𝐌”

EVM stands for “𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞”

Ethereum changed how it calculates and handles 𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐬 with 𝐄𝐈𝐏-𝟏𝟓𝟓𝟗. It makes understanding (and explaining) how gas works on Ethereum even more complex

But you should understand it. So here we go... First, let’s understand how gas USED to work.

To understand gas, you needed to know three things:

I quit @a16z at the end of 2015 to learn how to code

I did some self-learning and then joined @HackReactor to accelerate my learning

By the summer of 2016, I was an engineer at @coinbase

In hindsight, it would have taken me 10x longer if I didn't go to Hack Reactor The coding bootcamp gave me a structured path to follow. I didn't have to think about what to learn, what order to learn it in, what to build, etc

All I had to do was show up and work my ass off

If you use 𝐃𝐞𝐅𝐢 or buy 𝐍𝐅𝐓𝐬, you send 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 all the time. But how much do you actually know about transactions? Can you explain what they are?

That’s what I’ll aim to explain in this thread. What do we mean by a “𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧”?

A transaction is a cryptographically-signed 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to do something. In the case of Ethereum, it is an instruction to 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞

MetaMask has 10 million monthly active users, making it the leading non-custodial wallet for Ethereum

If you use Ethereum, you use Metamask

But it comes with its risks... First, a quick overview of how Metamask works:

Metamask works by storing your private keys in your browser’s data store. This is what makes it super convenient to use whenever you want to sign a transaction.

If you’ve used Ethereum, you know what an Ethereum account is. Your account address looks something like this:

𝟎𝐱𝐅𝟖𝐟𝐂𝐟𝐜𝟔𝐁𝟓𝐀𝟖𝟑𝟗𝟗𝟐𝐃𝟏𝟓𝟗𝐁𝐁𝟔𝐅𝟑𝐂𝟔𝟗𝟖𝟎𝟏𝟔𝟔𝟔𝟖𝐟𝐀𝐃𝐛𝐅𝐛

You may have used your Ethereum account to buy ETH, DAI, NFTs, and much more But did you know that there are 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 of accounts on Ethereum?

Before we explain what the two types are, it’s important to understand how Ethereum stores state

So let's start there...

People often describe Ethereum as a “𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞”

This makes sense to someone who understands what a state machine is, but most people have no idea what a state machine is

A short thread to explain... Wikipedia’s defines a finite state machine as:

"an abstract machine that can be in exactly one of a finite number of states at any given time. The FSM can change from one state to another in response to some external inputs"

This morning, I tried to cancel my membership to an online community

There was no option to cancel my subscription in the main portal. I emailed support to cancel and they sent me a long email about why its a bad idea to cancel... Then I received a separate email with a Typeform that I needed to fill out in order to cancel my membership

The Typeform had 7 open-ended questions with min character requirements

And If I didn't cancel 15 days ahead of the next payment date, I get charged for the next month
