The aircraft that @PrudentHermit has tracked around Islamabad , is US - NNSA 's Beach king 350.

I quote a news article of NNSA ( National Nuclear Security Administration here )

NNSA unveils three new aircraft for nuclear incident response. Planes will be used by Aerial Measuring System teams to measure air and ground contamination following a nuclear or radiological accident or incident.Equipped with specialized radiation detection systems, the new King Air 350ER aircraft will be used by NNSA’s Aerial Measuring System (AMS) teams to conduct measurements of air and ground contamination following a nuclear or radiological accident or incident.

We all know yesterday , India reported hitting Sargodha and Kirana. Now this plane sighting and sudden ceasefire , only shows Indians have achieved the objectives on world stage.

RISAT-1 , India's Radar Satellite disappeared suddenly in 2016 after it's launch in 2012. In the years that followed ( 2016-2018 ) many incidents/updates given , pushed RISAT-1 Into more mystery around it's disappearance.

Almost after 13 years after the launch of satellite and 9 years after it's disappearance , can we get an update now?

What were the events that actually transpired?

A thread (1/n) 🧵

PS : A very un-related and not much talked about correlation is also present in 6th part of this thread.Image Few know RISAT-1 wasn't India's first radar satellite. After 26/11 Mumbai attacks, India rush-purchased RISAT-2 from Israel for $200M. RISAT-1 came later - India's first indigenous radar satellite, built with hard-earned expertise.

For 4 years RISAT-1 watched India's borders. Until Sept 30, 2016... (2/n)Image

Tomorrow's SPADEX launch is India's giant leap into Space Rendezvous and Proximity Operations ( RPO ) exactly similar to the famous INTERSTELLAR Docking.

All you need to know about RPO & SPADEX , a thread 🧵 (1/n) Image We have all seen the docking scene in Interstellar right? Very simple match rotation, go into orbit and say 'DOCK'...

NO. NASA's first attempt at rendezvous was made on June 3, 1965, when US astronaut Jim McDivitt tried to maneuver his Gemini 4 craft to meet its spent Titan II launch vehicle's upper stage. However, the Gemini 4 attempts at rendezvous were unsuccessful largely because NASA engineers had yet to learn the orbital mechanics involved in the process. Simply pointing the active vehicle's nose at the target and thrusting was unsuccessful.

I found these foot prints one day while I was stationed at Indian Antarctic Station. It was almost Summer-Winter transition then.

I followed these foot prints for 1400 meters and in midst of little rocks I found a guest.

(1/3) Image He visited our station before any other penguins did. Indian Bharati station is on an island very close to main Antarctic Ice sheet.

We named him Maruti. He spent 13 days on the Island and on the 14th day this happened (2/3) Image

HOT UPDATE : ISRO released almost all it's datasets for FREE - for everyone. INDIA now has one of the most progressive & high resolution datasets available for free for it's users.

I just downloaded a dataset from 1990 - 5 YEARS before I was born. What all is free now? 🧵(1/n) Image Recent space policy update said all datasets above 5 meter had to be free. This literally is the best policy in the world. The best free data till now was 15m from USA & 10m from Europe.

The 5 meter datasets are from our Indian satellites Resourcesat-2/2A. ( 2/n ) Image

IT sector has been growing quite rapidly. Nifty IT index was ~ 1000 in year 2000 and reached 20,100 in SEP 2023. 20X growth in 20 years. But the fresher salaries have stayed the same. Why?

This is a thread on exploring the bustling IT industry in India 🧵 (1/n)

#70hoursWork Image Indian Engineering Graduates were around 90,000 around the year 2020. In 2019 , there were 15 lakh students in Engineering & Tech colleges and by a modest growth rate would be around 20 lakhs in 2023.

The supply of freshers has also grown ~ 20X.

India maintains two stations in Antarctica, Mytri and Bharati. There are two ways one can reach there , ship or flights.

I did my Antarctica expedition from representing ISRO in 38th Indian expedition.

This is a thread , showing how India flies to Antarctica

🧵 (1/n) Image So the closest airport to our stations in Capetown and many countries coordinate together on a single flight to a common ice - runway maintained by organisation called ALCI.

For our expedition , we got a brand new Boeing Commercial
