The Kalabari Kingdom, also called Elem Kalabari (New Shipping Port), was an independent trading state of the Kalabari people, an Ijaw ethnic group, in the Niger River Delta.

Today it is recognized as a traditional state in what is now Rivers State, Nigeria.

The people occupied a series of islands among the mangrove swamps of the delta, where they engaged in fishing and trading.

Our value is going extinction! our culture is waxing away!! Our norms and belief system is no more in practice. Our children could no longer play moon night games, look at the youths they are no longer trust worthy.

Ijaw is who I am, my name is Ijaw and I must die an Ijaw. Ijaws are creative, enlightened, hardworking, industrious, genius, intelligent, smart, rich, beautiful, accommodating and amazing.

Nobody will educate Ijaws if they don't educate themselves.

Nobody will invest in Ijaws communities if Ijaws refused to invest in their own communities.

We the Ijaws have a geography that is similar to tourist destination like Hong Kong, Thailand, Bahamas, Barbados, Venice, etc Our white beaches, rivers, islands are waiting for Ijaws who are building hotels in Lagos,and Abuja to come and invest in them.

It is advisable for Ijaws to concentrate their businesses in Ijaw communities in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Ondo, Edo,Akwa Ibom, and Cross Rivers.
