One of the people who's been adamantly outspoken about "the court of social media" and a "confected crisis" generated by Twitter is @RohanLeppert, who himself has a tidy 7,643 followers at time of writing.

In 2020 elections are held for Victoria's local government councils. The Victorian Greens look for candidates who want to run for local council. A person living in Boroondara puts her hand up to run as the candidate in Studley Ward. That person is chosen by the Boroondara Branch (quite possibly unopposed) to be the candidate, along with over 80 other Greens candidates across Victoria. They campaign, the election happens, they don't win (or come close).
