Some truly obvious startup advice that gets circulated as if it is some amazing discovery

- We don't stretch people beyond a limit, give them a day off or hire extra help

- Distribution is important to building anything

.... - TIL how important sales is to grow my business. Everything is infact sales

- We give people salary and esop to match their contribution to the firm

The one thing that really troubles me is the loss of identity that we are inflicting on thousands of young people as they work to ship groceries, man the warehouses, drive taxis and more

This loss of identity has damning consequences as they seek to find identity elsewhere... The first loss of identity comes with them being barely noticed as they go about their work. Thousands of people working in dark stores, riding bikes to make contactless deliveries under tough deadlines.

Yes, the work gives them money, a chance to live in a city....

Another good episode of Direct to a billion consumers with Rohan Mirchandani of @epigamia

A 🧵on some learnings

What amazes me how simple the origin stories are for consumer brands

It's either fuelled by an insight or a push from someone or just frustration with a normal job Another things is that if you have energy and enthusiasm, you will find collaborators

In this case it was a senior leader from Coca Cola who invested and showed the way to move forward

Also the broken system here is the birthplace of new ideas.

I think I have a formed a certain science around picking podcasts, so here goes. A 🧵

1.) The Tim Ferriss Show by @tferriss : Long form audio. Has a diverse set of guests. Useful to broaden your mind and get great tactical mental models.Take a lot of notes, pause & go over again 2.) Invest like the best by @patrick_oshag : Sessions are usually masterclasses on a topic or theme.

Tend to be pretty dense with a lot of concepts so make notes for research later. Just the right amount of long form to allow regular listening.

Listen to grow as a professional

Titan is a gem in the Tata stable. I had a TAS stint with them and a few pointers stuck with me.

1.) It is adept in creating powerful sub-brands, each with it's own customer segment and internal culture.
To list a few brands
- Titan
- Sonata
- Fastrack
- Tanishq
- Xylys
(1/6) 2.) Each brand has seperate teams across key functions but leverage the Titan brand for all cost decisions.

3.) Very early they knew the power of diversifying into accessories. Higher LTV + more frequent engagement. Skinn & Titaneye+ are great examples within Titan itself. (2/6)
