My baby is in third grade. She lugs a binder of Pokemon cards to school to swap them on the playground at recess. Her socks are always mismatched & she wears a dinosaur hoodie. She's just started making her own lunches for school every morning (she's very proud), and although I walk her to school every day, she walks home by herself because she is big enough now. (School policy: 2nd graders are too young to walk alone, 3rd grade is okay.) (She's also very proud of that.)

I cannot stand this. I cannot fucking stand this. I cannot stand that parents anywhere should have to worry every fucking day about this nightmare scenario, that I worry about it, that our KIDS - who are made to do drills, to *practice* for it! - have to worry about it. It is inhumane that anyone should live with this fear. No one's precious fucking firearm is worth the life of a single child. Not one. Not anywhere. And anyone who steps up to bluster about "gun rights" in the wake of children's deaths can walk straight off a pier to Hell.

THREAD CW: ANIMAL DEATH

(It's not @OttertheCat or the Wolf of the Metro-West, don't worry.)

As the regular reader will know, I couldn't sleep last night. It was somewhere in the grim tundra between 2:30 & 3 AM that I finally slept. So when one of the hens started going off at 5 AM on the nose, my initial response was, "Girl, fuck OFF," & to roll over.

It dawned on me (pun not intended, tho it was very much dawn) after a minute that she was yelling from the wrong side of the house, & had no plan to stop.

This is @jack once again fundamentally misunderstanding why people use his platform. I'm not here because I want to walk away from Twitter each day "feeling like [I've] learned something." I'm not here for debate or Jack's (or rather, the sea lions') vision of "healthy dialogue." These tech bros make fun things that users like, but then they take it into their heads that they have to be MORE than just fun things that users like, they have to Lead Dialogue or Foster Debate or Make Shit-Tons of Money by Harvesting & Selling Their Users' Organs or whatever.
