“In the past week, an Ohio abortion clinic received calls from two women with ectopic pregnancies — when an embryo grows outside the uterus and can’t be saved — who said their doctors wouldn’t treat them.” apnews.com/article/aborti… TX doctor: “recent patient who had started to miscarry and developed a dangerous womb infection. A thread: A few weeks ago, my beloved cousin Eda Solome died at the age of 100. @amptMN spotted the obituary her daughter wrote. How Eda survived the Holocaust by hiding in a Polish farmhouse, where she met her husband. It resonated (a lot). (1/x)
Eda was extraordinary, and so was her story. Despite everything, she lived a long and loving life and met her great-grandchildren. But for every tale of survival like hers, there are so many more we can scarcely bear to hear. (2/x)

1. A couple of years ago, I asked Marty Baron to talk on the record for this piece on how, at the eleventh hour, he killed reporting on a hostile work environment at 60 Minutes and allegations against Jeff Fager. He said no.
nymag.com/intelligencer/… 2. I’ve already said my piece, but since I see the excellent @ichotiner asked Baron about it and Baron called it a “misportrayal of what actually transpired,” I just want to quickly review the undisputed facts. newyorker.com/culture/the-ne…

Good morning. I'm still on parental leave, which in this country is unfortunately a privilege (indeed, now more than ever) and my employers @nymag have been so respectful of its boundaries. Childbirth and caregiving are both hard work! Workaholism is bad! Baby is cute! However... A scoop by me: Yale Law prof Jed Rubenfeld (aka Mr. Tiger Mom) has been banned from teaching for two years after Yale found he had sexually harassed multiple students. Allegations spanned decades. He told me he's a "target" for his views on Title IX. nymag.com/intelligencer/…

A thread: A bit over a year ago, I joined @nymag, fresh off 6+ months of reporting on sexual harassment and assault at @washingtonpost (Read it here washingtonpost.com/investigations… washingtonpost.com/charlie-roses-…:). I’m still thinking through what it means to report stories of sexual violence. @NYMag @washingtonpost For years, my friend (and now colleague!) @rtraister and I have been talking through the costs to people who put themselves on the line. She proposed and recruited me for this cover package that makes some of those conversations public: thecut.com/2019/09/the-to…
