Today I have resigned from the Tasmanian Greens. My intention was to do this yesterday before formally announcing that I was standing as an independent candidate for Bass. However, preceding events mean I need to give context as to why I’m only confirming this today. #politas 🧵 On 21 February the Tasmanian Greens emailed me to say I had been suspended, as they were now aware that I was standing for election. When I contacted the party to ascertain how they were made aware, it came to my attention that my embargoed media release had been published. 2/

I was at this event with my family (including my baby daughter). Political leaders were at this event.

I'm not a lawyer, so I'm not going to get into the legal issues of this. For me, this is about ethics, safety, & the #politas government's responsibilities.

At a time when we have a @Tasmania_COI undertaking its work precisely because victim/survivors were abused, targeted & vilified by those in government institutions, it is incomprehensible that they have continued to prosecute action against a whistleblower in this manner 2/
