Many pro-EU peeps are up in arms over Labour defeatism and acceptance that Brexit is here to stay and freedom of movement is not coming back.

I kind of agree but we might be missing a very important point. At this stage Labour is proposing a number of improvements to the various deals. Enough for the Tories to claim they want to undo Brexit, they don't. But who knows if these adjustments will expand in the future?

On this day Roe v Wade is abolished, I remember talking with Florida residents nearly 30 years ago.
To them the primary role of women was looking after home and children with a set amount of money decided by the husband. Also remember hearing them telling me most issues in America were caused by women working.

In other circumstances I remember people saying that my role, as a dad, should be to keep my daughters "pure" until their wedding day at which point they become their husband's property.

French expression of the day:
Petite mort...
But first, Alain Souchon.
78 years young, a long and illustrious career including many songs for refugees, against sexism and overconsumption released, many years ago, a song similar to When I'm 64: Quand je serai KO

In it he uses the expression "petite mort" to ask his love interest if she will still love him when he's fallen out of favour, when he's been replaced by younger singers in the charts.

Will she still love him in this little death?

@KirstieMAllsopp Well Kirstie, since the referendum, I've had the drive of shame in Dover.
Once in particular, the border guard face changed when he spotted my French passport in the pile of 4 I handed him.
What were my intentions, what was I going to do in the UK he asked? @KirstieMAllsopp Indeed, what was I going to do?
Driving a British registered car, with 3 British people in the car all with the same French surname and my British address printed in my passport... (Yes, we have addresses there)

David here is a Tory MP.
He claims that because 3.5 million have applied for settled status, it shows it to be a success.

What a silly thing to say.

Ask the question again in 10 years time once problems will have become manifest. When people will have been thrown out from Britain because they were not able to apply, were refused, or mistakes let them become targets of hostile environment.

In fact, no need to even wait for 10 years. There are already a number of people without criminal record who've been refused settled status.

Today's the day we're supposed to come together.
If you believe the EU is communist, I can't come with you.
If you believe the EU is Nazi, I can't come with you.
If you believe the EU is a giant conspiracy against workers, I can't come with you. If you believe a country that belongs to the EU cannot be a democracy, I can't come with you.
If you believe a country that belongs to the EU cannot be independent, I can't come with you.

Today I remember that my grandfather was arrested and deported to French camps by French authorities then deported to Auschwitz by the Nazis.
He didn't return.
Today I remember that my mum was smuggled into Switzerland. That her mum paid smugglers to take her through the border. I remember what the Nazis did. The people they murdered, the terrible wars they fought.
And now I see tweets claiming the Holocaust didn't happen. That Jews invented it all either to give a bad reputation to the Nazis or as a pretext to steal Palestine.

Since all hope is lost, since I live in a hostile country, one where the Prime Minister didn't hesitate to blow the racist dog whistle in the campaign, is it time I retire from Twitter, at least retire from political Twitter...
Or possibly take a long break.
I don't know. Guys, thank you all for the messages of support.
Yes, the UK is now hostile, at least politically. A nationalist government pretending to be the only one to represent the people and a Parliament that must comply or else?
A government whose boss has accused me, as French citizen

So a compatriot in the UK for over twice as long as I have been, took their life in part due to the anxiety of what Brexit has brought to us, EU citizens in the UK.
Brexiters have accused all sorts for this. They accused the EU and Merkel in particular for allegedly refusing to talk with Theresa May and agree a deal early on.
They didn't say a word when members of her government called us bargaining chips.
