As part of the 1979 Lancaster House Agreement,the British, French,West Germany and the United States govts contributed to the Zimbabwe Development Fund(ZDF)2 purchase land from white land owners on a willing seller/willing buyer basis. This started reasonably well With mainly absentee land owners most of who had inherited the land and had never even been to Zimbabwe. This soon exhausted the stock and there was a covert campaign by the Commercial Farmers Union (CFU) not to take up this scheme....

Simbiso came from Redcliffe Torwood, their family were so poor that her fathers job was not enough to feed herself,Mother, sister & two brothers.

I think I need to put this COS thing to rest! I spoke to someone yesterday that spent 12K to get two family members here in the UK.

An employer pays for COS sponsorship licence depending on size of company depends on what they pay. Anything from £500 to £2.5k that is a once off payment. From there on they are allocated an amount of people they can recruit. They then pay £200 per person that they recruit to come over.

Not at any point does an employee pay for a COS certificate of sponsorship.

Preheat the poultry hse to 32/34°c before placement.Use hygrometers to determine RH (relative humidity) & temp.Typically placed in 3 zones 1,2 & 3 front,middle & back.Record every hr for first 10 days.Make sure floor surface is 28°c before the birds come in. Use perishable chick paper to lay feed on @ 80g/bird. Black plastic is a no no. Run the lanes near pans/hoppers to encourage birds to take to them as soon as possible.

Drinker heights must be at eye level to the nipple in a normal standing position.

I have recently come across this mechanisation scheme going on in Masvingo.I have tweet about what a load of nonsense scamming scheme it is already but would like to go into more depth.

Apparently initial deposit is $500usd from there on I dont know the terms ...& I dont really care either. I will start off with the plough. On their catalogue it says 2 hectares per day & you will use 15lts of fuel. Ok, fair enough. However my calculation tells me otherwise. If it takes a day assuming 8hrs to plough. This engine consumes 4 to 5lts/hr

I find that producers often follow the growth during rearing,but they will discontinue once the birds start laying. Keeping an eye on bodyweight is important for different reasons: in rearing, on target bodyweight has a positive correlation with better performance during the production period, and regular control in production gives producers an indication of whether the farm will perform.

Tip:- When building your broiler house be sure it is situated in an EAST to WEST direction. Meaning; the width facing EAST WEST and Length NORTH SOUTH. This is extremely important where heat stress is concerned. If you have the sun beating down on your birds it will reduce feed intake and affect your feed conversion rate (FCR)

On Roadrunners in Zimbabwe 🐓

I have come to realise that there are alot of people wanting to go into or have gone into what they calling free range poultry. Yes literally thousands of road runners running freely. They have various breeds like Black Astrolope, Koekoek and Bosch.

They breed them hatch & sell the chicks.

I want to put it out there that this is NOT good for the industry if not monitored properly or even audited by a government compartment.
