In the heat of the COVID pandemic...

A young man reached out to me to help him sell nose masks.

But there was a problem.

He had several boxes of masks

And Facebook had put a ban on ads selling masks.

Here's how we emptied the store in 3 months:

THREAD>👇 A picture of a warehouse room.

That was the first thing I got after I got info about my next big job.

Seated in the warehouse room was my client...

And tens of boxes filled with masks.

"We have to sell all these. I have a partner but we couldn't sell much" he said.

I've written over 2,000,000 words…

Published a novel…

And sold millions of dollars with my writing.

Steal my 5 non-negotiable habits to make more money as a writer in 2023: 👇🏻

[THREAD] 1. Time the ideas.

At midnight…

I shut my eyes and clear my head off the day's consumption.

That's when my brain floods with ideas.

I open my eyes… pick up my iPad… and put down everything before I sleep.

Whenever I forget to write them down…

I lose it all.

ChatGPT has killed off 99% of copywriters.

But the top 1% will beat every single ChatGPT copy.

Because they ask themselves these 5 questions when they write: 👇🏼

[THREAD] 1. Have I repeated my promise enough?

Before ever setting their eyes on your copy…

Readers already have opinions and ideas on the subject you’re writing about.

Sometimes, your idea supports their existing opinion…

And many times…

Human perspective is never absolute.

What we think is right is always based on what we know now.

So what does this mean for you as a copywriter or marketer selling to difficult people who you think would NEVER BUY your product? It means you can get an audience to try out a product they wouldn’t have considered buying 2 weeks ago.

All you need to do is:

Open their eyes to what they don’t know.

Sounds obvious, right? 🙄

Here's the thing...

Find a starving buyer…
Make an offer to them…
Close the sale!

Viola!

Profits!!!

Everyone already knows this, right?

But why do most coaches I’ve spoken with start at the bottom?

And why do they lose? 👇🏻 They start with the idea.

“Hey Jake! I have an idea and I think this is going to be very good.”

I met two ladies weeks apart from each other.

The first one sells a career coaching program with her team of coaches.

And I thought her offer was decent - but poorly communicated.

$5,000 marketing lessons from 3 local Nigerian traders: Three men stood towering over me as I walked in front of their electronics shop.

“What do you want?” The eldest one asked.

“I want to get an iPhone cord. Do you have it?”

Expectations influence reality.

When we believe an experience will be good beforehand, it will seem good even if it‘s mediocre.

So prime your audience before your product is out.

For example:
When hosting an event…

Say things like:

“It’s going to be a powerful experience…” Your audience believes it’s powerful…

And even when there’s no trace of power during the event…

They’ll somehow convince themselves it was one of the best people events they’ve attended.

The basic copywriting framework answers these 3 questions:

• Who is it for?
• What do they want/need?
• How does this product satisfy their needs?

Your copy should tick off these 3 boxes…

But I’ve seen 100s of landing pages in the past year and noticed something - Many of these pages highlight the product the hero of the journey.

They focus on the product’s features and all the bells and whistles that make it great…

While they place the customers as an afterthought.
