While I know BYU is capable of eliminating all prejudice and applaud the hope, I don't believe they've counted the cost and, therefore, will not. Here's why: Not long ago, I was contracted by the church's publishing company to produce a gospel centered anti-racism course. Worth noting, for every minute of content there was one scripture reference or GA quote. No CRT scholars were cited and the term 'anti-racism' appeared only twice.

Still in Esther. Today we gonna talk about Mordecai's activism and Esther's allyship.

After learning that the king authorized the genocide of his people, Mordecai moved into lamentation: Torn clothes, sackloth and ashes, wailing, etc. The lamentation took on the form of protest when he ended up outside the palace, making Queen Esther aware of his presence.
Esther, having no clue what was going on and uncomfortable with the scene, sent him clothes that he might at least not be seen in sackloth.

It's Esther week and we don't talk enough about Queen Vashti:

She threatened the entire empire's patriarchy just by saying 'no' to the king. All resources and protocol of the state had to be mobilized to preserve it.
Queen ish for real.
But, that meant Vashti's banishment While this set in motion the events of Esther, there's a kinda dark, but important lesson. Vashti said 'no' to being alone in a room full of drunk powerful men who had been partying for literal days. Viewed as the king's property, Lord knows what could've went down in that room.

Tl;dr President Oaks is wrong about queer people.

He ain't say anything new, but he didn't really need to. He validated the church's queerphobia by putting God's name on it multiple times. No scriptures quoted. Just divine hearsay. #GeneralConference In next Sunday's Come Follow Me lesson, we'll read about the Israelites failing some significant tests, even though they were told what would be on the test. The same folks that walked across the Red Sea would complain against God twice about similar crises.

The following probably goes without saying, but I want to say it out loud:

The church's greatest stumbling block is itself. There is actually protocol for what Brother Wilcox did. The person conducting the meeting was supposed to shut that ish down or, at the very least, correct it when his remarks were finished.

I thought folks were taking this out of context originally, but it's still pretty bad even in context.

I can appreciate the spirit of what Brad Wilcox is trying to do as someone whose list of theological questions continues to grow as I work out answers to others. This may be his way of minimizing the question for the sake of not burdening those with more fragile faith. I've been guilty of this myself, particularly with doctrinal issues I didn't feel I had any immediate skin in.

What Brother Wilcox is doing though is dangerous
