Alright, my target poll for this was 100 votes, which we reached.

Who wants to hear about how the most successful drug in history is about to encounter the biggest disruption in modern healthcare?

Gonna channel my best @doctorow here and try to explain the tomfoolery. RIGHT.

Humira is a monoclonal antibody (that's why it's in a syringe and not a pill). It binds to tumor necrosis factor, which is key modulator of inflammatory responses. If you've got Crohn's or different flavors of arthritis, it's your life.

Someone sent me the article "Working From Home Is Less Healthy Than You Think" on Monday. The reward for a job well done: more work.

It's a New York Times opinion piece, so skepticism is fully justified.

Is it any good, though?

No.

nytimes.com/2023/03/14/opi… Premise here is fairly straightforward: NEAT (which translates from physiology-speak to 'energy spent walking around and doing random crap') is lower in remote work. This is certainly my experience, it's probably yours. On the macro level, this has health consequences.

🧵 There is a lot to say, because primarily redefining what 'a place of work' means within ~2-3 years is a BIG shift in human culture. So there's very much an 'eat the elephant' problem in talking about it - you need to choose a forkful at a time.

So, here's today's fork.

I'm starting to get more and more interested in the formal positioning around remote work, because it heavily involves two things I do: manage people, and punch up on bad science.

So, with that in mind, I did not like this article. I will tell you why and try not to swear.
