We assume all knowledge can be downloaded or mastered through solitary study.

But the Parasurama Kalpa Sutras present a view on mantra practice that challenges this.

Some knowledge simply resists commodification.

A thread on why PDFs aren't enough. 🧵 Image 2/
The ninth sutra provides the key:
सम्प्रदायविश्वासाभ्यां सर्वसिद्धिः — "All accomplishments come through tradition and conviction."
It establishes two pillars for true practice:

-Vishwasa (conviction) and

-Sampradaya (living tradition).

Sri Rama and Brahmahatya
1/25 Long thread🧵: The recent exchange on brahmahatya of Sri Rama from @6amiji's tweet and insights from @agnimaan and @KushagraAniket gave an opportunity to explore the depths of Itihasa and Purana. I wish to share my learnings on this. 2/25 My submission of Rama being subject to brahmahatya based on Skanda Purana (x.com/jamvasu/status…) was responded to with an insightful series of tweets by @agnimaan (x.com/agnimaan/statu…).

The statement that Valmiki Ramayana contains no mention of brahmahatya dosha for Rama might be accurate. However, we do find this mentioned in the Skanda Purana, showing how different texts explore different aspects of the same narrative. 2/7
Skanda Purana evidence:
स्कन्दपुराण:3.1.47.40:
अतो दशग्रीववधात्कुम्भकर्णवधादपि |
ब्रह्महत्या समभवद्रामस्याक्लिष्टकर्मणः || ४० ||
"Therefore, from the killing of Dashagriva (Ravana) and Kumbhakarna, brahmahatya befell Rama of unblemished deeds."

Vedantic Rule
🧵 1/8
The Kamandaka Neetisara brilliantly weaves Vedantic philosophy into statecraft, showing how ancient Indian governance was never just about power—it was about cosmic consciousness applied to earthly rule. Let's explore this unique approach to leadership... Image 2/8"आधिव्याधिपरीताय अद्य श्वो वा विनाशिने" - The text reminds rulers that the body plagued by diseases will perish today or tomorrow. Why then pursue unrighteous acts for temporary gains? This impermanence principle forms the bedrock of ethical governance. Image

🧵 THREAD: Upakarma - The Ancient Science of Learning

1/8 While many celebrate Rakshabandhan today, traditional communities observe Sharavana Purnima for Upakarma - a fascinating ritual dedicated to learning. Image 2/8 Upakarma literally means "that which brings you closer to learning (adhyayana)." But here's the genius: our ancestors identified TWO distinct types of learning.

Why did political thinking decline in India?
A sharp observation by M.M. Rajeshwar Shastri Dravid, from his work Pāścātya–Bhāratīya–Rājanītyoḥ Samālocanam (1/20):
“The decline wasn’t due to lack of scholarly interest—but due to rulers neglecting political wisdom.” Image 2/
When those in power stop studying or valuing statecraft, what can scholars do?
Wisdom needs both thinkers and executors.

1/🧵 Legacy & Lineage: A Vamśa-Based Lens on Cultural Transmission

What if we could categorize families, institutions, even civilizations—based on how well they carry forward knowledge and excellence?

An ancient Indian framework does just that. Let's dive in. 👇 2/ Four types of Vamśas (lineages), based on how legacy is transmitted across generations:

This isn't just about ancestry. It's about how wisdom, skill, and values are passed on—or lost.
Each type tells a powerful story.
