Texas has been a fine host for Super Bowls and sporting events for decades, but All Star games and NCAA championship sites have been moved for far less than what is now happening. The NFL moves hundreds of staff, reporters into a host city for 2 weeks. ESPN builds a public outdoor set and rotates hosts. Between open carry and hostility to reproductive rights, how could a company ignore the potential threat to employees? There are too many alternatives.

If you think potential vaccine passports could contain a lot of your information, wait until you hear about passports. Or a credit report. Or what your cell phone knows about you. Or that some jobs require drug testing to get a job. Or a test to drive a car. Society sets gating criteria all the time. So what’s the protest *really* about here?

Imagine if every sports league in this country had gotten together in April and put together an initiative to educate the public on masks and help facilitate testing locally. A few thoughts on the decision to limit Caster Semenya's ability to compete due to ideas about gender and chemistry. There's this odd idea that testosterone is what makes people good at sport. The most and you're the best man, too much and you're not a woman. This is a pretty rigid way of defining gender. Not only that, it leaves out the truth that although men are more suited to some labor than women, there will always be women who are are as strong etc., as the average man. Women and men can vary far from the average.

On Kaepernick/Reid settlement, keep that in mind when you hear that the NFL will play anyone if they can win. No they won't, and no they don't have to. That teams chose to do this over kneeling rather than abuse let's you know what they really find unacceptable. It's also a reminder that while players are told to stick to sports, owners are incredibly political and act in much more effective ways. Just look at the list of NFL owners who donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural committee, which is now under investigation.
