Well hello #traintwitter. Nice feed you’ve got there. Be a shame if someone filled it with six days of Interrail adventures in search of… (hasthtag drumroll) #GroundLevelAalto 🇫🇮
The journey starts today. 🥳 #GroundLevelAalto is the Twitter story of the week-long field trip of a new summer course I’m delivering at Umeå University. It’s a 7.5ECTS course studying the work of Alvar, Aino Elissa Aalto in Finland. Over six days we visit six major buildings, and we travel at ground level.

Every journey starts with a single step. And then, maybe a bus. Since it’s one of the new EV buses rolling around #Umeå, I’ll be able to make it all the way to Copenhagen - 1,358km - without using fossil fuel. #NorrlandtoNorfolk#Umeå Central Station, seen from Bangatan. All trains to/from Stockholm use platform 3, on this side of the station. There is no waiting room on this side, and trains generally don’t arrive more than five minutes before departure. 🥶 #NorrlandtoNorfolk

The journey to Zagreb and the #EAAE 2019 Congress begins with train 571, the 07:19 Umeå to Stockholm.
In somewhat surreal circumstances, I’ve just seen the woman sitting in front of me write a Facebook status update on her iPad saying that they are on the train travelling to Croatia for a week’s holiday. 😀
