Criminal laws have to be sufficiently specific so that citizens are on fair notice of what conduct is illegal and to ensure that constitutionally protected activities are not made criminal.

That is especially true regarding activities protected by the First Amendment. Courts want to ensure that laws do not have a “chilling effect” on lawful speech/assembly/petitions/religion.

To the surprise of no one, @molmccann hit the nail on the head. I'd add that this is the perfect example of completely misleading and dishonest reporting by @adamgoldmanNYT and his cronies at the #FailingNewYorkTimes.
For instance, they downplay the breathtaking nature of the disclosures from the Jensen investigation, saying that the experienced prosecutor and former FBI agent "scoured F.B.I. files in search of anything that could be construed as so-called Brady material." UFB!
