The Kremlin has basically (and erroneously) claimed opposing the war amounts to Russophobia. There are Russians protesting this war so that’s obviously BS. As Russia claims to be pulling troops back from Ukraine’s border it’s worth noting that Russia in 2014 invaded Crimea but lied about its military presence there for weeks, and Moscow continues to deny having troops in the Donbas despite solid evidence to the contrary. From April 2014: “President Vladimir Putin admitted Thursday that Russian troops had been active in supporting separatist forces in Crimea.”

There’s no doubt the US has evacuated a remarkable number of people from Kabul. But can’t shake the feeling Democrats would have a much tougher time touting the numbers if it had been American bodies falling from planes last week and American body parts found in the landing gear. Of course US leaders have an inherent obligation to Americans and their safety, but there’s an undeniable double-standard in terms of how this country treats the lives of those beyond our borders.
