I don't see the recent riots as an issue of immigration, I see it as an issue of opportunity. Responding to the riots and the concerns underpinning them by making the case for immigration (as suggested in today's FT & Economist) would be a mistkae. Here's why...🧵

Image First, @sundersays flags this @YouGov polling which shows 42% of Brits think those taking part peacefully in the protests last weekend represent the views of most Brits; w 1 in 8 saying the rioters represent views of most Brits. These aren't small numbers.
