--i await you in the garden

-in which taehyung is a dryad whose life-force resides in the ancient oak tree standing in the garden of a grand estate he's seen passed down through three generations. for almost three hundred years he's been alive, brought into being when a young boy planted a sapling on a warm summers day. he has never been alone in the garden, there has always been someone living in the big house, lighting the windows at night, sending laughter floating across the grounds, hosting dinner parties on the lawn.

-people travel far and wide for a chance to become the royal storyteller, but the bored prince has eyes for no one. only a lowly man telling stories in the market, who is surprised to find himself summoned to the palace at the prince’s request. “i appreciate the honesty in the stories you told. i’ve never heard anything like them before. so many have tried to impress me with tales of dragons and knights, things for children. thank you for not doing that.”

"i don't think there's much else worth telling," hoseok says now, holding out his arms for his clothes. "tell me about dohyun-ssi." he raises his eyebrows when jimin doesn't move to give the clothes back and jimin relinquishes them with a reluctant pout. "you should wash these before you wear them," jimin says, plucking at a shirt on top of the pile. "i'd wash some for you but they might go mysteriously missing." he grins slyly. "i'm not very good at not losing things."

"i'll wash them tomorrow. dohyun-ssi?"

yoongi smiles sheepishly. “good, too. sorry. i don’t usually teach here while you guys are here. but times got mixed up—my fault, so…”

“it’s okay,” hoseok says. “i was just wondering if she’s hungry or thirsty… dinner’s almost ready if…?”

“oh, no, her parents are on their way to pick her up. don’t worry about it. thanks, though, that’s… thanks.”

“do you want a drink?” hoseok asks.

“if you haven’t drunk all the peppermint, i wouldn’t say no to a cup of that,” yoongi says, pulling the bobble out of his hair. it fluffs around his face.

he puts the shrimp in the trolley and lets taehyung take him to another aisle. he tries to show enthusiasm, he really does, at the things taehyung says--random little comments, funny little stories--but he's just... not in the mood no matter how much he forces it. he is tired and he is anxious and when they finally leave the shop, he breathes a sigh of relief. "i can drive home if you want?"

"sure," tae says. he's double-checking all the ingredients that he's packed into the large kimchi container they've also purchased.

“what’s up?” namjoon asks. “tomato?”

“uh… tomato?” hoseok says, confused.

namjoon takes a pot off his windowsill and shows it to hoseok; a tall, wobbling tomato plant, sprouting bright red cherry tomatoes. “i think they’re ready. try one.”

“oh, okay, sure.” gently as he can, he plucks a a tomato and eats it. flavour explodes on his tongue. “wow. that’s amazing, namjoon-ah.”

namjoon beams. “i think, if i grow enough, we can cut back on buying any at the grocery store. we could save some money. we spend too much on food.”

--where hoseok, who is visiting his parents on their farm, answers the door to find his boyfriend of almost a year standing there holding a rubber duck and a potted plant.

when hoseok wakes, he finds the fields are encrusted with frost and the morning chill has seeped through the flagstones of kitchen floor. through the back window of the old farmhouse, he can see his father checking on the cows and his mother collecting eggs from the chicken

jimin gets up, pretending to stumble and have to use yoongi’s knee for support. “get me a drink. I’m too sober for this.”

“you’re always too sober for everything,” yoongi says, passing him a glass a quarter full of tequila. jimin downs the whole thing and slams the glass on the table happily. “alright! tae, find something fun. yoongi-hyung, get up. sing with me or i’ll have to sing you happy birthday again! hey, maybe they actually have that on here…”

@TwitterSupport a few days ago the tweets in every thread I’ve posted all started showing up as ‘unavailable’ for anyone who looked at them. I, myself, can see the tweets as though nothing is wrong, but no one else can see a word i’m saying. Please resolve this issue. Thank you. @TwitterSupport I have also noticed that I no longer show up in search results when I use the twitter search-bar to try and find my account. As well as the fact my replies to other users posts are also showing up as ‘unavailable.’

jimin pouts and looks back at hoseok. “okay, i’m done. not really. but i’m done.”

hoseok laughs. even though he’d known jimin would be the best person to come to, he hadn’t been prepared for just how enthusiastic jimin is. it’s taking a few seconds to get his brain working after the deluge of information.

“um… i actually had a few ideas… it’s just…”

“just?” jimin prompts eagerly.

hoseok flushes. this is stupid. “i feel out of place going to jewellery shops on my own. it’s so… bright and clean. i… i wondered if you’d come with me.”

issue for him to worry about.

“it’s yoongi-hyung’s birthday in a week. we were thinking of going out to that club again if you want to come too.”

hoseok buys himself awhile to digest this by straightening his stack of homework. with all the concentration he’s been putting into trying to get to know the others, the date yoongi had told him outside the club has completely slipped his mind. he isn’t sure he wants to go back to the club again, but he also doesn’t want to miss yoongi’s birthday. yoongi had pretty much managed to top all of

everything had gotten so humid and sweaty and her kisses had gone from pleasant to sort of slobbery. and even though it was night, he’d been worried about someone seeing them, sure you could get arrested for sex in public, just like you could get arrested for pissing in public. all in all, he’d been so in his head instead of just letting himself experience the sensations of sex, that when he finally did orgasm, he’d been so distracted by other things that it had felt extremely lacklustre. not terrible, but not mind blowing either. just a lukewarm ‘meh.’
