Yesterday I was clouded with emotion when I posted about a person running for local office.

She is an anti-vaxxer who runs an online show. She invited a guest who discussed my father's death.

I've been angry about this. I acted out of anger. I have deleted the post. 1/ I regret giving her attention.

I should have had better judgement.

I regret posting her affidavit she filed for office.

While it is a public record , I initially believed its entire contents were fair game because she was now entering public office. 2/

BREAKING: We have obtained an 8 minute video clip showing when a train hit a Platteville Police cruiser with a suspect inside. The suspect is alive and in the hospital with multiple injuries. We are reviewing the video now. Here's a 40 second portion of the video. 1/ I obtained this video after I filed a records request with the Fort Lupton Police Department. Yareni Rios-Gonzalez has nine broken ribs, a broken arm, a fractured sternum, and numerous other injuries to her head, back and legs. 2/

🚩 @CasaBonita NEWS 🚩

Today I met the new executive chef of @CasaBonita.

Let’s just say Dana Rodriguez has a lot on her plate as she’s responsible for making Casa Bonita’s food into something people will like. 1/ As @CasaBonita undergoes restorations and renovations, employees have been taking Spanish & English classes so they can communicate better when it finally opens.

They are receiving certificates today. The classes were free for the employees.

Today is the first day of #HispanicHeritageMonth!

I'd like to begin a 31-day thread here with the goal of sharing stories & images that reflect my northern New Mexico heritage.

On Day 1, let me begin with this @9NEWS video from 2017 featuring my grandma. 1/ Day 2: Los Penitentes were religious community advocates in remote villages.

AKA, “Los Hermanos de la Fraternidad Piadosa de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno.”

My great-grandfather, Roman Lopez, was a farmer & leader with title “Hermano Mayor.”

Yo!

I've got some very interesting Casa Bonita news. I've obtained a trove of images, blueprints, plans and documents outlining what's planned inside our beloved Mexican fiesta-themed mini universe.

Brace yourselves.

Hold on to your sopapilla.

I've got news to serve. 1/ A records request to the City of Lakewood has yielded interior photos from December. I've got renovation cost and goals.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker bought the restaurant for $3.1.

Renovations are expected to cost $12 MILLION, according to docs. 2/

NEW: We hear from two bystanders who were shot by @DenverPolice on Sunday morning. Yekalo Weldehiwet still has an officer’s bullet lodged in his shattered arm. Bailey Alexander was shot in the back, with the bullet exiting through her arm. 1/ Yekalo came to US at age 10 from Ethiopia with his parents to escape violence. He’s got a remarkable story. His dad was a janitor at the University of Denver. Yekalo graduated from the same school with a full-ride scholarship. He finds it ironic he was shot in the US.

Finally! I can talk about this. Some of you remember this tweet. I found something that made my heart race when I was going through government databases. A case of fraud involving $2.3 million in COVID funds. Follow this thread... #9NEWS @9WantsToKnow
Weeks ago I was scrolling through government databases that show all the Colorado businesses that received COVID dollars. Money that was supposed to help small businesses pay employees during the pandemic. I found a strange pattern. 2/

A story.

In the Spring of 1954 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a young mother handed over her three-day old son to a couple who long yearned for a child of their own.

Margie Nelson is pictured here, likely the last moment she had with her baby before giving him up for adoption. 1/ The boy was taken in by Manuel Jojola, a medicine man from Isleta Pueblo, and his wife Lupita. They named him Samuel (Sam) and never told him throughout his childhood he was adopted. They raised him as a Native American. Sam was instilled with Native cultural beliefs. 2/

This QAnon nonsense is now more than just a passing internet conspiracy/trend. It’s a full blown delusional cult. The QAnon followers on this platform are high in number and it seems to be attracting more people. Why? There’s subreddit dedicated to people who need help with friends and family who are consumed by this QAnon nonsense.

Here’s something I’d like to focus on as I cover the case of the CEO who brandished his gun. The victim in this case, Chris Ochoa, was pressured not to file charges initially. A thread about this (article below) 1/: #9NEWS 9news.com/article/news/i… 2/ Remember Ochoa and his girlfriend where lost and pulled up to the wrong home while looking for a wedding rehearsal. The host of that venue was pretty clear about her feelings if Chris decided to press charges.

JUST CONFIRMED: Denver Police seized these guns and tactical gear from two men who showed up to the protest on Friday. One of them, Chevy McGee, tells me he didn't break any laws. McGee is part of the "Boogaloo" movement. #9NEWS We featured McGee earlier this month when he posted a livestream after a Colorado man was arrested for pipe bombs. 9news.com/mobile/article…

This pandemic may produce more conspiracy theorists who are yearning for a belief that there are larger forces in control of things.

It’s hard to accept nature, biology, and and the inherent flaw of man are not controlled by hidden puppet masters. Every single major event in our history has a conspiracy.

From the moon landing to 9/11.

This pandemic is no exception and the internet, especially Facebook groups, is polluted with false claims.

Theorists tribalize and feed off their collective yearning for community.

Hi Twitter. I have a thread about what I've been seeing and experiencing recently in the wake of our reporting on Hate.

(Updates on a Proud Boy podcast/radio show & anti-Semites.)

I'd like to begin with an old Spanish saying:

"Dime con quién andas, y te diré quién eres." 1/ The saying essentially means, "Tell me who you hang out with/walk with and I'll tell you who you are."

I heard this a lot growing up from my mom and my grandma.

I've been thinking about this saying a lot lately. 2/
