Am speaking early next year at a conference on "What I would tell my 25 year old financial advisor self."
In addition to the weird reality that I'm not really a "young" advisor anymore, it's been a good exercise to mentally work though.
Here's what I'm thinking:
1. Network. Not just for prospective clients, but with other advisors. Get to know alternative business models, get to know different different approaches, and realize that the water we currently swim in isn't the entire ocean.

Today I turned 38. Here are 38 things I've learned in just under 4 decades in no particular order.
1. I'm not as smart as I think I am. 2. I'm also not as dumb. 3. True friendships are one of life's greatest gifts. 4. Kids force you to improve yourself.
5. Set your own goals - don't mimic others. 6. Not mimicking is really hard. 7. Self-awareness is a super power that cuts both ways. 8. Imposter syndrome exists for every self-aware, competent person I've ever met. 9. Human beings are built to have idols - choose wisely.

The Greeks has two different words for "time" - Chronos and Kairos. In English (and well before English) we conflate the two. Which is unfortunate.
Chronos is quantitative. It measures time in minutes.
Kairos is qualitative. It measures time in moments.
Chronos focuses on sequence.
Kairos focuses on opportunity.
Chronos looks forward or backward.
Kairos looks at the present.
Chronos is the stuff that kills us.
Kairos is the stuff that brings us life.

One thing that drives me crazy is when people - myself included - pretend life is perfect. Or at least always good.
Life's hard, and it's ok to admit we don't live that perfect life.
Something I don't admit, and sometimes even hide, is the fact that I have epilepsy.
For me I had no seizures or seizure activity as a kid. It was adult onset when I was 26 or 27 years old. It was probably the scariest thing I can remember happening to me, and even more so - to my my wife seeing it.

Back in the saddle after #xypnlive with literally pages of notes - neatly organized via @NotionHQ.
A few quick takeaways (not exhaustive by any stretch) ...
I can learn a LOT from how @acmejla has structured his practice and is leveraging his time. Everything I learned in his podcast with @MichaelKitces was confirmed in genuineness from our two hour conversation in person.
