I will be giving a free online talk about Pentiment (dialogue) in the next few months. I will also be talking at various conferences throughout the year. However, I will again not be giving a talk at GDC due to their policies on compensation, travel assistance, and distribution. The first 2 issues don't really affect me, but they do affect many less-established devs/devs from smaller studios that are farther away from SF. Traveling to GDC is expensive. Almost every other conference I've spoken at offers assistance on much smaller budgets than GDC.

I don't really think 99.9% of riders need more than 10 cogs on a cassette. Sorry if you chose a 1x setup on a road bike. Consider getting another chainring.

Since Pentiment came out, I've seen people attribute things to me that I did not do, erase me from things that I absolutely did do, and ignore large numbers of other devs who also did a huge amount of work. This is most notable with Fallout: New Vegas, so let's do this again: 1/8 John Gonzalez was the lead creative designer (effectively "writing lead") on Fallout: New Vegas. He wrote the main plot from Chris Avellone's starting incident (shot in the head, dropped in a grave in the desert) and my end point (2nd Battle of Hoover Dam). 2/8

Most directors, regardless of medium, are trying to create an emotional and/or intellectual experience for the audience. When you work with creative people and tell them how to effect the mechanics of expression (i.e, how to do their job), it can be frustrating.

Hey, all. I just took this pic when I was discharged from the hospital after staying two days for pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs) and remnants of a deep vein thrombosis (clot in one of the veins of my right calf). I had COVID 3.5 months ago. This is a PSA: I have never, to my knowledge, had a serious blood clot before. The original clot formed in my calf maybe a month ago after an intense bike ride and felt like a weird muscle injury that swelled the area a bit and made it stiff to flex. It lasted for a week or two.

I think FromSoft worlds are fundamentally mythological, both in their lack of concern for materialist worldbuilding in favor of metaphysical systems and in literally pulling character concepts from human (often insular Celtic) myths. Their worlds do not run on agriculture or industry or commerce because they exist in a post-fall Atlantean state. Everything that remains is an echo of the antediluvian age. The wheels and gears of society never need to demonstrate the capacity to turn; they just need to evoke.

Minor thing, but a few native German speakers have commented on the spelling of some ostensibly German names in Pentiment because they do not match the typical spelling found in DE/AT/CH today.

The simple reason for this is that spelling was not standardized in the 16th century. Also not all of the characters are from German-speaking regions. They may be from adjacent areas where the spelling differs a little or a lot. Brother Mathieu is Swiss, but he is from Neuchâtel, which was (and still is) dominantly Francophone.
