As a classically trained cellist, composer, former Apple employee, and CEO of a design studio that specialized in icon and UI design, I am ~uniquely qualified~ to comment on the Apple Music Classical app. A lot of people seem to be wondering why a separate app is necessary in the first place, which is a totally reasonable thing to wonder about! There are a few big reasons, and they have a lot to do with metadata and cataloging.

I was following almost 1k accounts on Instagram, so I decided to get a finsta that can follow all the brands/shops/celebs and keep my personal account to people I know. IG flipped out, blocked me from unfollowing, and is now filling my main feed with suggested follows. This furthers my assertion that many "UX designers" are in fact "monetization designers". Nothing about this platform is designed to let me use a social network to stay closer to friends and loved ones, it's actively keeping me from it.

Cat Tank, 2020
Cardboard and glue

Modeled after a Polish TK-3 tankette. Created for Detective Blueberry in honor of @nhyphenc’s birthday. I was so worried she wouldn’t want to use it. As long as I fill it with catnip and fresh crinkly paper, Detective spends most of her days inside the tank.

If you or someone you know is struggling with the subtleties of debates around trans equality, I encourage you to briefly step aside from science and definitions for a moment and think/talk about it this way: [thread] Misunderstandings like this are often rooted in fear. In this particular case, the fear is that trans equality could inadvertently dilute the women’s rights movement by allowing anyone to claim womanhood at any time, essentially rendering gender meaningless or trivial.

Here’s what’s going on with conference organizers right now: a thread of unknown length because I’m rambling. [1/?] So there’s a super bad outbreak that’s teetering on the brink of pandemic. That is VERY bad. In addition to the basic badness of people falling ill, there’s also the badness of people who do fall ill not having access to proper care. [2/?]
