I've been talking a lot about Foam, note-taking, networked thought and similar, but how to use these tools and methodologies isn't obvious, and why I'm excited about them.

I think the easiest way to explain this is to show, not tell.

Here's my notes for today:

(THREAD 🧵👇) For the past 2 weeks I've been building Foam, the tool you see above. Today, I wanted to get out from the weeds of fixing bugs and think about the big picture.

So I went out for a walk on the canal with a mission to figure out, what do I want Foam to be.

I've built something I've thought of for a long time, and it's finally ready for preview! 🚀

Foam is a personal knowledge management and sharing system built on VS Code and GitHub 🧠

Try it out and let me know what you think! 👀

More thoughts below 🧵

foambubble.github.io/foam/ Foam is heavily inspired by @RoamResearch, @BearNotesApp and the like.

I wanted to build something for myself that optimised for powerfulness rather than simplicity, and it's hard to beat the power of the open source ecosystem and tools!

What time is it? RANT TIME.

You know what really pisses me off? Goddamn REACT, that's what. I've been working with React for the last few years, and it's the most BORING piece of technology EVER and it's ruining the fun of being a UI developer.

A thread. 👇 To start with, it’s just JavaScript. How are we supposed to impress our friends in the industry and feel superior to them, when we are just writing JavaScript?

How are people supposed to see how smart we are when we’re writing the one language out there that everybody knows?

So many great talks at @ReactAmsterdam today. Haven't been to a conf as an audience member for a while, and it's given me time to think about the art of public speaking.

A thread. 👇 Everyone has great content and interesting things to say. But sometimes we can subconsciously undermine our effect by falling into easy traps.

Here are some speaker "don'ts" to be mindful to avoid. None of these are subtweeting a particular talk.

In just one hour @dan_abramov will be taking the @jsconfis stage to give one of the most hyped talks of conference history. You know what that means?

YES, IT'S LIVE HOT TAKE TWITTER THREAD TIME 👇 Hello viewers. My name is Jani Eväkallio and I am your host for today's spectacle. We are joined here in the studio by Max Stoiber, who some people (me, just now) insist on calling Austrian Dan Abramov.

@mxstbr, how excited are you about today's event?
