Here are some facts about the deadly Texas flooding to help understand what happened.
1. The National Weather Service issued a series of early alerts warning of “life-threatening flooding” along the river HOURS BEFORE the flooding began. Read that again. #TexasFloods
2. Local officials were alerted to the threat by the NWS but there was no system in place (text alerts, and more importantly sirens, etc.) to alert people along the river. 3. The Guadelupe River floods frequently and regularly. It has flooded dozens of times since 1900.
