This is big.

The UK Charity Commission has directed that Mermaids - the single most influential activist group regarding child transition in the UK - must "have regard to the findings, conclusions and recommendations of the Cass Review.” 1/6

gov.uk/government/new… Cass found "the rationale for early puberty suppression remains unclear, with weak evidence regarding the impact on gender dysphoria, mental or psychosocial health. The effect on cognitive and psychosexual development remains unknown."

Mermaids disagreed:

Roz Adams has been awarded £35k for the harassment she suffered at Edinburgh Rape Crisis. She was subject to a ‘Kafkaesque’ ordeal for believing the centre should be allowed to discuss the natal sex of support workers with rape survivors. 1/12
telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/10/1… As Roz says: 'I don’t know how any organisation can claim to have women only spaces or services while not defining what a woman is or what female means.'

In 2023, Sandy Brindley, CEO of RCS, said 'work was underway' on a definition of women. 2/12

Dear Sandy,

While you've been in charge at Rape Crisis Scotland, a man now serving time in prison for multiple sexual assaults was 'treated' at the Edinburgh centre.

The man in charge of the Edinburgh centre called rape survivors who wanted single sex services 'bigots.' 1/9 Image Under your leadership, multiple women self-excluded from the Edinburgh centre because of the male CEO you defended and praised.

On your watch, a 14-year-old girl who'd been raped felt unable to access support because she wasn't guaranteed a single sex space. 2/9 Image

I've been aware of one of the incidents described in this thread for a long time, because I know people involved. I'm posting this in response to the head of Rape Crisis Scotland's attempts to use rape survivors as human shields for her own career. 1/9 The incident involves a group of female sexual assault survivors, who a few years ago requested a meeting with Sandy Brindley, head of Rape Crisis Scotland. They wanted to express their concerns about gender self-ID legislation. 2/9

Today has seen the publication of a damning report into the culture of the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre under CEO Mridul Wadhwa, a man who identifies as a woman. 1/10
thetimes.com/uk/scotland/ar… According to the report's author, legal specialist Vicky Ling, the regime of the rape crisis centre under the trans-identified CEO “caused damage” to survivors. Some “did not feel safe” using it. 2/10

We’ve seen polar bears, whales, musk ox and narwhals AND, unexpectedly, a group of Danish feminist parliamentarians at Koks, the world’s most northerly Michelin-starred restaurant! (Whale photo is bad, I know. I was too busy watching to focus). 2/4

.@wesstreeting, the UK's new Health Secretary, has indicated that he plans to make the temporary ban on puberty blockers permanent. This has made the usual suspects very angry. Streeting, they say, will have 'blood on his hands.' He will 'kill trans kids.' 1/10 The usual lies are being trotted out by trans activists. 'Puberty blockers have been used for years and are proven to be entirely safe!'
But this is untrue. 'Thousands of women claim Lupron ruined their lives or left them crippled.' 2/10

There has been an utterly damning judgement in the case of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre versus their ex-employee Roz Adams, who was subject to what the judgement calls a ‘heresy hunt’ for her gender critical beliefs. ERCC’s investigation of Roz is described as Kafkaesque. 1/10 Image This statement by Roz gives an insight into who she is as a person. Roz’s top priority has always been the survivors of rape and sexual assault ERRC was supposed to serve. Aside from being a highly qualified support worker, Roz is a person of bravery, integrity and compassion. 2/ Image

.@KirstieMAllsopp I'm astounded by this comment. One of the gender ideologues' favourite slogans is 'no debate'. Opponents have been attacked, vilified, subject to discipline at work, had their lives overturned and lost their careers, all for the crime of wanting a debate. 1/13 Sonia Appleby, an experienced psychotherapist working at the now discredited Tavistock clinic, was monstered for raising concerns. A tribunal found that her professional reputation had been damaged and 'prevented her from proper work on safeguarding'. 2/13

Over the last four years, Hilary Cass has conducted the most robust review of the medical evidence for transitioning children that's ever been conducted. Mere hours after it was released to the press and public, committed ideologues are doubling down. 1/6 These are people who've deemed opponents 'far-right' for wanting to know there are proper checks and balances in place before autistic, gay and abused kids - groups that are all overrepresented at gender clinics - are left sterilised, inorgasmic, lifelong patients. 2/6

Scotland's Hate Crime Act comes into effect today. Women gain no additional protections, of course, but well-known trans activist Beth Douglas, darling of prominent Scottish politicians, falls within a protected category. Phew! 1/11

Lovely Scottish lass and convicted double rapist Isla Bryson found her true authentic female self shortly before she was due to be sentenced. Misgendering is hate, so respect Isla’s pronouns, please. Love the leggings! 2/11 Image

Some time ago, lawyers advised me that not only did I have a clearly winnable case against India Willoughby for defamation, but that India's obsessive targeting of me over the past few years may meet the legal threshold for harassment. 1/5 I ignored this advice because I couldn't be bothered giving India the publicity he so clearly craves. Nevertheless, we must all do our bit to combat hate, so India will be glad to know I've taken note of his homophobia, racism, and humane stance on immigration. 2/5

So: in @NicolaSturgeon’s Scotland, trans women AREN’T women if they’re convicted double rapists, like Adam ‘Isla Bryson’ Graham. 1/4 However, trans woman and paedophile Katie Dolatowski, who covertly filmed a 12-year-old and attempted to rape a 10-year-old, both offences committed in women’s public bathrooms, IS a woman and remains in the women’s prison from which Adam Graham is to be removed. 2/4

🧵I'm reading the transcript of the tribunal of Mermaids v LGB Alliance. It's a bit mind-blowing, seeing some of the answers set down in black and white. 1/ Take this, from Mermaids Chair of Trustees Dr Belinda Bell: 'Well, you see, I'm not clear [people] come out of the womb with a sex, to be honest.' 2/

I know I should be out in the fresh air and the beautiful snowy landscape, but is there anything better than bashing out thousands of words - not all of which are crap - in a single sitting because your brain's on fire and you've got to get the story down fast? No, there isn't. Days like this, where writing's a pure rush, make up for all those where you're rewriting and revising and trying to make gold out of what you fear might be lead (and sometimes is). Of course, I'll have to revise everything I've done in the last seven hours, but who cares?

As @TinyWriterLaura still has me blocked, I can only respond to her here. I've never asked the Society of Authors to issue any statement concerning me, whether by tweet, email or letter. You've just repeated the accusation that I 'asked' the SoA to issue a statement. False. 1/5 Image Now you use the weasel words 'or maybe your followers' focus.' In the immediate aftermath of Salman's attempted murder, @Joannechocolat, the president of the SoA, tweeted a flippant poll about death threats to authors. This was seen by some as a veiled dig at me. 2/5 Image

I note the genderists are now arguing that it doesn't matter that a paedophilia apologist was a trustee of a trans children's charity, because he was 'only one'. You know, I thought things were pretty bad when you were arguing to put convicted rapists in women's jails, 1/3 when you shrugged off masked men roughing up lesbian protestors and tried to shout down detransitioners talking about what was done to them by ideologically-captured doctors. Women, gay people and vulnerable kids have suffered real harm and you? You cheered it all on. 2/3

We've now learned that Mermaids appointed a paedophilia apologist as Trustee and that their online moderator encouraged kids to move onto a platform notorious for sexual exploitation. This is a charity that's achieved unprecedented influence in the UK. 2/5 They couldn't have achieved it without the money and public support of certain corporations and celebrities, who eagerly boosted them even though the red flags have been there for years. Mermaids' fingers were all over the Tavistock Gender Identity Clinic debacle. 3/5

For those who haven't read the Times article, a moderator on the @Mermaids_Gender forum encouraged gender questioning children to move their discussion off the Mermaids forum and onto Discord, a platform notorious for hosting graphic content and failing to verify user ages. 1/5 The @Mermaids_Gender moderator's only note of caution to the children on the Mermaids forum was that they shouldn't use the name Mermaids for their Discord group. 2/5

.@KEBrightbill This fake tweet was created when I deleted an entirely different Tweet with a typo in it, then reposted. The creator claimed this what what I deleted. I am asking you to delete this defamatory claim and acknowledge the truth. 1/2 My lawyers would also very much like to know the identity of your 'real life' friend who 'screenshotted' it herself. As this Tweet never came from my account, she can't have captured it in the form it appears here. 2/2

Respectfully, I've been facing down the Punch-and-Kill-TERFs brigade for a while now and not once have I thought, 'what I really want is to hand this over to a man who thinks feminism is one of the worst things to happen to western civilisation.' 1/4 Like many women on the left, I despair that so many self-proclaimed liberals turn a blind eye to the naked misogyny of the gender identity movement and the threat it poses to the rights of women and girls. Walsh's film undeniably exposed what many leftists are too scared to, 2/4
