The situation in the English Channel is tragic, and the French are mainly to blame. The fact this isn't pointed out, and it's even suggested that the UK is culpable, is absurd.

Not convinced? Imagine if you will, the situation were reversed:

Imagine there were tent cities on the Kent coast (similar to the "project fear" camps Remainers thought would spring up post Brexit), full of migrants hoping to reach France, and the "sunlit uplands" of the EU.

THREAD: What the EU has lost

After 4 long years, finally the UK will be free of the EU.

But apart from trying to dissuade others to leave, why did the EU fight so hard to get the UK to change its mind?

Because the EU knew it would lose a lot. And this is what it has lost: 2/
- 12% of its population (down from 513m to 447m)
- €2.4 trillion in GDP (down from €15.9tn to €13.5tn)
- It's second largest contributor, amounting to 5% of its total budget (~€12bn per year)

Date of 10th #Coronavirus case:
Spain: Feb 26th
Italy: Feb 21st
UK: Feb 23rd

Deaths (as of 24th March):
Spain: 2,991
Italy: 6,820
UK: 422

Based on these figures, the UK response has been vastly more effective at preserving life... Yet here we have a Spanish based author trashing the UK's response:

"The rest of Europe views the UK's coronavirus plan with disbelief"

You may have heard:

"Cliff edge"
"No deal chaos"

a lot lately.

However, a "cliff edge" doesn't exist. The UK and EU have *already passed legislation* ensuring that when we #LeaveOct31 very little changes. I explain in my new blog post. Please RT!

joelrwrites.wordpress.com/2019/09/03/eve… Firstly, on the EU side:

The EU launched their No Deal Contingency plan in Dec 2018. This ensures continuity of things like cross border trade, transport and derivatives trading. You can view the press release here:
