Cuba did not have a “nakba”. Before Fidel Castro’s revolution, Cuba was not free. Fidel Castro freed Cuba, a neocolony of the U.S. headed by a cruel tyrant named Fulgencio Batista. Cuba's wealth was appropriated to enrich the pockets of American multinationals.🧵

Life under the dictator Fulgencio Batista was characterized by underfunded schools, deplorable infrastructure, and widespread poverty. Rural communities were ignored. Fidel Castro's revolution liberated Cubans from these conditions, despite the embargo.

They’re really still trying to get us to sympathize with videos of Zionists being scared when this is what Gaza looks like.
A reminder that when they talk about rockets and level entire residential blocks in Gaza in response to it, this is what they’re talking about. Glorified fireworks for occupiers.

If you live in the United States, here’s a fun fact: People in other countries much poorer than you have their own homes and free healthcare that no landlord or company can take away. They are eating home cooked meals with their family while we reheat TV dinners between jobs. No, you should not have to have a second job. Absolutely no one should ever have to work multiple jobs. That was actually never supposed to be normalized you gullible idiot

In 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in that the police have 𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺. Cuba supports gay rights. Same-sex marriage was legalized in a referendum and Cuba was one of the first countries in the world to provide free gender reassignment surgery. However this has not been the case, which has been fuel for anti-communists. Here is the truth. 🧵 ImageImageImage The Cuban constitution prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In 2013, Cuba passed a law banning employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. ImageImage

As two black women were leaving a TJ Maxx after purchasing merchandise, a random customer walking into the store accused them of shoplifting without any evidence. When he was given an unsatisfactory response, he physically assaults them. The media calls them "alleged thieves". Even TJ Maxx says there was no evidence so why was this not reported as a random customer getting away with assault? Image

An unhoused man on a subway was loudly upset about not having any food to eat, so an ex marine put him in a chokehold and killed him—because public displays of suffering is offensive to the american public. The cops let him go and the media is reporting this as a heroic incident. There are free elections in Cuba and the U.S. has opposed every single one. Cubans can vote and have more government representation than Americans could ever hope for. Candidates include workers, farmers, and students. Americans are represented by geriatric millionaires. ImageImage Parties do not run in Cuba, just individuals. Candidates do not bombard Cubans with political advertisements, and elections begin at the municipal level. As a result, unlike in the United States, the Cuban Congress consists of workers, farmers, teachers, and real professionals.

The reason the U.S. doesn’t celebrate International Workers Day on May 1st like the rest of the world is because the U.S. wanted to “counter the influence of communism”, and because it’s roots lie in 1886 when Chicago police massacred striking workers in the Haymarket Massacre. ImageImage On May 4, 1886, a peaceful labor protest in Chicago's Haymarket Square turned violent when someone threw a bomb, killing several police officers and civilians. The incident became known as the Haymarket Massacre, and led to the execution of several labor activists. ImageImageImageImage

Today is International Workers Day, May Day for most of the world. Today is a day where workers should be valued and appreciated. For the United States, a country that regularly tells it’s hardest unappreciated workers they’re lazy, it’s just a regular day scrounging for pennies. ImageImageImageImage In many countries around the world, International Workers' Day is a national holiday, with parades, demonstrations, and celebrations. Workers are recognized and celebrated for their contributions to society. The United States doesn't officially recognize this day as a holiday.

The U.S. should be excluded from global sports events like the World Baseball Classic. This is how Miami Cubans treated representatives of Cuba, a heavily sanctioned island that guarantees healthcare for their people. It’s not heroic or brave when a famous Cuban baseball player decides to leave his home country for the enemy. Image

Anyways TurboTax has been lobbying (bribing) the U.S. government against free, government-sponsored tax filing services, and simpler tax systems for decades to ensure a profitable industry exists to file your taxes. I tweet pro-communist propaganda and only focus on the negative aspects of bloodthirsty corporations

I’ll never forget waking up after Hurricane Katrina to see the entire neighborhood flooded, water rushing into the house, my family getting completely dressed like the government was going to rush to rescue us, and then the realization they were not coming. I was 11. Whether foreign or domestic, every child impacted by the U.S.’s terrible policies grows up resenting the government.

20 years ago, the United States decided to invade Iraq, a sovereign country after lying to the public that it had WMDs. The politicians that helped displace and murder millions of people are still in office. This was one of the biggest crimes of the 21st century. ImageImageImageImage There was an unprecedented level of nationalism with opposition censored. Many of the liberal democrats that support NATO’s wars today were actually against George W. Bush’s wars in Iraq, whether it was because of his political affiliation or genuine compassion we can’t be sure. ImageImageImageImage

It’s really exhausting to see the money we were told didn’t exist for us is suddenly available for banks. The people making these decisions will likely face easy reelection. Image If you start seeing begging for basic necessities as “give me free stuff” you’re actually fucking unwell

Thursday in California, armed cops shot and murdered a double amputee who was running away on his leg stumps. I’m absolutely serious. His name was Anthony Lowe Jr. Officers fired roughly 10 rounds at Anthony Lowe Jr., a 36-year-old father of two whose family said he lost his legs in another encounter with police in Texas. This man was a father.

The people of France continue to prove they are much angrier, braver and willing to take action against their politicians than leftists in the U.S. I wish I could find that footage of protesters stopping a guy from vandalizing a street sign in the U.S.

Is anyone else applying for *tons* of jobs and getting no call backs? Mutual aid is good and all but it’s inconsistent, and I have to ask for a low amount instead of something that would genuinely keep me afloat for a month. Those of us asking for it can’t really pay for haircuts, new clothes, because that’s not what people send us money for.

This young man shot at a cop and ended up killing himself because he was about to be searched for weed. If we had no reason to fear the police, if they weren’t constantly locking up our loved ones for life, we wouldn’t have a flight or fight response. Sadly this is also why everyone needs to learn to respond properly and know when their future is really at stake. Sometimes they really just take your weed and let you go.
