Tricky balance for founders in a bear market, particularly in crypto.
You need to maintain conviction and not pivot away from strong ideas with good fundamentals.
But at the same time, if you’re pre-PMF you can’t just stand still and tell yourself the market will catch up.
The balance to strike is to make the continuous product leaps you need as a pre-PMF company without resetting progress by abandoning your thesis.
The challenge here is that you need to learn from each product evolution in a market where it’s very hard to get a strong signal.

—App NFTs—
During the shift to mobile, everyone got smartphones, and applications had to build mobile versions to serve users on these new devices.
In crypto, a similar paradigm shift is happening, but the new device that’s proliferating is not hardware; it’s a crypto wallet.
Like smartphones, crypto wallets change how we interact with the web.
Users show up with a wallet already in-hand. They don’t sign up for every new app via email.
The wallet is the user’s primary account and interface for interacting with crypto.

Spatial Wallet: An Ethereum wallet with the UX of Excel:
- Every cell is an address derived from the same seed phrase
- Use operations on cells to bulk move assets or allowances
- Click on any cell to add an ENS, Split, etc
One click "commit" to submit bulk tx with all changes.
For example: 1. Click on a blank cell 2. =SUM (click and drag across a whole column of old addresses) 3. Click "Commit." 4. ETH balance of all those addresses is transferred to the new cell simultaneously.
The app would prepare the tx from each address and broadcast all at once.

I think finally, sometime next year, "NFT Projects" will no longer feel like a clear category of work.
When we talk about NFT Projects, we're generally referring to work where an NFT is the focus. Today these are mainly art/community projects ranging from 1/1 pieces to 10k pfps.
Even just in the past year, these kinds of projects have evolved and already make up a pretty wide range of implementations that are getting hard to lump together into a single category. One take on that here:

next step function improvement in wallet design will be about abstraction
really about choosing to abstract away the right things in the right places.
low hanging fruit for wallet apps today: a single roll-up view showing assets in any of my addresses that were generated from the same seed phrase.

LQ: Lore Quotient aka “Lore Score”
Every item has an LQ which is its current level of lore / aura it’s built up
The capacity for lore that something has, an LQ ceiling if you will. Some items are just low PLQ items and can’t establish much LQ.

1/ NFTs as JPEGS will not be the dominant mental model of what they are in the future. Feels very much like "NFT 1.0" which is probably worth coining because similar to "Web X.0," the scale of NFTs' impact will be similar.
2/ Kind of like how when it first launched, the New York Times' website was just a photograph of the newspaper every day.
Eventually we learned that with software, we can program websites to be dynamic and functional, using HTML / Javascript.

1/ My work is often illegible to people that don't know me well, so I wanted to do a quick recap of my projects from this year.
I really value working across many different areas and it's exciting to be in a time where that's so possible.
2/ In January, I worked with the @viamirror team to launch the first crowdfund on Mirror. Original announcement post and thinking here: j.mirror.xyz/OgVaYso25gEqxn…

Really think we’re in a different era now. There was Before Loot and now there’s After Loot. Punk moment all over again.
Have thought and published so much about this direction for NFTs but didn’t know how/when it would begin. Execution and timing were just perfect. So many things to learn from it.

I just want someone to use crypto to build Greed Island from HxH. And if no one will rise to this challenge...it might have to be me.

Tweet thread as pitch deck: Capitalist Grad School (this is a rough start of an idea)
Slide 1: The famous startup question: Product, Team, or Market?
Slide 2: If you're early enough, Team matters more than Market. You can select a team earlier than you can for Market or Product because a company doesn't need to exist yet.
