The @TGC review of @albpeelerā€™s book can unfortunately be summarized as, ā€œI've never struggled with the same question, so the project is invalid.ā€

Below is a (1) practical and (2) theological reason why I think is both wrong and possibly dangerous.
thegospelcoalition.org/themelios/reviā€¦ The review opens by saying that Peelerā€™s question is ā€œDo women matter to God?ā€ but then calls this ā€œobviousā€ and the answer is yes for the ā€œsimple reasonā€ that Jesus is human.

I would argue that this is inadequate pastorally and theologically.

Everyone says the Bible is the ā€œgood bookā€ but no one reads it.

You can finish it in these 66 steps.

šŸ§µ 1. Genesis

The original prequel trilogy.
I. God makes people in his image, but they choose evil and destruction.
II. God picks a shifty but good couple to start a new people heā€™ll use to save the world.
III. Their grandson is very pure but his tyranny gets them stuck in Egypt.

If you're looking for a fresh way to read the Bible in 2022, I might recommend picking up a copy of the First Nations Version (FNV), a translation of the New Testament by the Indigenous people of North American. amazon.com/First-Nations-ā€¦ The dynamic (thought-for-thought) translation method is probably most noticeable in the thematic names (with literal name in parenthesis) for all biblical characters: Father of Many Nations (Abraham), Creator Sets Free (Jesus), Bitter Tears (Mary), Small Man (Paul).

December 25:
Probably not Jesusā€™s birthday, but it could be the day Jesus was conceived and became an incarnate God-cell.

Hereā€™s how ... Zechariah belonged to the priestly division of Abijah (Luke 1:5)

Abijah served in the temple in the eighth slot (1 Chr 24:5,10), in the month of Sivan (late May, early June)

When he returned home, Elizabeth would have conceived sometime in June.

Fun facts about the Blessed Virgin Mary (#BVM), the color #blue, and whiskey. šŸ„ƒ Duccio Virgin and Child in Majesty, Central Panel from the MBlue Dyer Distillery in Maryland #Blue is one of colors that appears least often in nature, so it was one of the last to be manufactured by humans and highly valuable.

There is even some some evidence that blue's rarity meant that it was one of the last color words added to languages.

Everyone always talks about "Mary Did You Know"

But have you ever experienced, "Mary Why Are You Screaming on Stage in a Birth Simulation When I Brought My Hindu Neighbor to Church"?

... a thread ... A number of years ago, one of my neighbors asked if he and his family could join us at our church's Christmas Eve service.

We live in a neighborhood that is 80% south and east Asian, and we were glad that our friends of Hindu background were interested.

Do not store up for yourselves likes on twitter, where cancels and toxicity destroy, and where bros break in and explain. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where hacks and pundits do not destroy, and where influencers do not steal and quote tweet. For where your technology is,
there your heart will be also.

ā€œBecoming a theologian involves not only coming to know God (theology is simultaneously art, science, and craft), but also becoming a certain kind of person, one whose created intelligence has been illumined by the Holy Spirit.ā€ Kevin Vanhoozer firstthings.com/article/2018/0ā€¦ As to learning how to think theologically, let me begin with four adjectives (Trinitarian, biblical, catholic, and systematic) that qualify Christian theological thinking. Each describes a theological habit of mind that has proved useful in getting the understanding faith seeks.
