I'm pissed. This could be a good story about how pay to play worked in the White House, but singling out one group of people who played by the rules set forth by Trump is dangerous anti-Semitism. Let a former newspaper editor explain why. 1/14 nytimes.com/2021/03/21/us/… "Who, what, where and why" is journalism 101.

Who: Orthodox Jews
What: Seeking pardons
Where: The White House
Why: Trump changed the rules <-- This is important

Pay attention to the why part, because this is crucial in the nuance of this piece. 2/14

Is anti-Semitism rising? (A thread). It's a conversation we seem to be having more often in private. Normally we relegate these conversations to "nonsense talk" and "paranoia." But the consensus now seems to be that "yes, this feels different." For example, in the past week: 1/8 On Tisha B'av I had an older man come up to me and say to my face: "We are going to go to war with you." (He clearly meant Jews.) That happened on a street here in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. 2/8

🚨Real talk time this morning: On a very crowded 4 train one stop before work I notice a scuffle. I'm in the middle of a packed car watching. A man, who turned out to be a rabbi, who was riding the entire time near me, was on the platform now taking photos on his phone. 1/8 🚨Real talk time this morning: The next thing I know one of the people he's taking a picture of lunges after him. I find myself running out of the car, pushing people aside, and I grab hold of the front of the guy's jacket and hold him there while the rabbi gets further away. 2/8
