I went to West Point, so you don’t have to. Here are the 7 biggest lessons I learned. Image The Cadet Honor Code: "A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do."

Initially, I saw this as a rule to avoid breaking. Over time, I realized it's a requirement for me and anyone I associate with. It’s a baseline for every relationship in my life.

Here's my step by step guide on how to hire a Virtual Assistant in the next 3 days.

@sweatystartup @SullyBusiness and others have discussed why to hire, so I'll just focus on the how.

We've worked with about 40 remote virtual assistants in the past 12 months. Step #1 - Hire "offshore team members," not "virtual assistance." Too many people only look at offshore talent for menial tasks. We look to hire manpower AND brain power. We onboard just like we would a US employee. I recommend you look at them in a similar way.

Beyond SMART Goals 🧵

SMART Goals are popular, but they don't work.

Yes, goals should be specific, measurable, action oriented, realistic, and time bound, but that's not enough. My frame of reference - I love goal setting and mindset stuff. I've read a ton of books on it. I earned a Masters Degree in Performance Psychology under one of the greats. And I've taught mental toughness to our countries next generation of leaders at West Point.

How to start a cold calling operation? 🧵

Our VAs made 58,408 cold calls this week for our single family real estate business.

This is what that means... The math.
5 cold callers on a power dialer for 40 hours
200 total hours calling
58,408 cold calls (we called a number)
3,397 connects (we talked to someone on the other end)
27 qualified leads (defined below)
1-2 deals (signed purchase agreements)

Let’s Admit It: Everyone Secretly Hates Company Values 🧵

Company values are usually terrible, but here are three companies that get it right. Though the third is questionable (ok. it's my company). #1 Headspace.
Selfless drive: We want passionate collaborators, people who are dedicated to improving the health and happiness of the world. Courageous hearts: We want compassionate people who make the workplace a training ground for personal growth and transformation...

"Try not to bash into the walls too much..try to have a nice family..have fun...save a little money---That’s a very limited life." "Life can be much broader, once you discover one simple fact, and that is that everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."
