I am bored to tears with much of the conventional media, which simply recycle endless old Project Fear stories as if they were true, parades so called experts who always back Remain, and fail to ask any of these people the questions pro Leave would ask. johnredwoodsdiary.com/2019/01/27/que… Why do you want to give £39bn away to rich countries on the continent in return for 21 more mos of talks w/ the EU? Why would they give us a good deal on a future relationship in 21 mos of talks after March when they've failed to offer anything in the 2yrs 9 mos before March?

I have seen governments forced into climb downs on unpopular policies, but never seen a PM put so much effort into defending a policy which united a large element of her own party with all the forces of opposition. It is difficult to fathom why the PM carried on with it. There's no point in going back to the EU to try to fix the Withdrawal Agmt. Even if the EU was prepared to take the Irish backstop out of the Agmt there's still no majority to carry the proposal though maybe half the Conservatives against it in its current form might think again.

There is a lot of confusion and deliberate misinformation about trading under the WTO. Here are some facts that might help.
johnredwoodsdiary.com/2019/01/10/tra… All our current trade is under the WTO, as the EU is a member. The UK will become a full member with vote and voice as soon as we leave the EU, as we never surrendered our membership when we joined the EU.

There is a lot of bad & misleading language used about Brexit. Apparently Mr Barnier is about to embark on his own version of Project Fear, claiming the so called “No Deal” option will be difficult. The UK government will make sure all is ready to depart without a Withdrawal Agreement if necessary. Why would the UK want to sign such a one sided Withdrawal Agreement anyway? What is Mr Barnier offering to make it worth our while?

The one good thing to come out of Chequers was that the Govt will speed & complete its preparations for leaving the EU w/o a deal. It's important to put some weight behind the UK’s bargaining position. Only if the Govt is prepared to exercise the No Deal option do we have clout. The biggest win from No Deal is the opportunity to spend £39 billion at home on our own priorities that we would otherwise give away to the EU.

I find it extraordinary that so many who make their living out of govt & politics are so defeatist abt this greatest of countries. Why do they doubt our ability to shape good laws, frame a good economic policy & trade w/ the 5 continents of the world based on what we are good at? Anyone who walks the corridors and great rooms at Westminster must see there the heroic story of our islands. There on the walls and in the sculptures are the establishment and the rebels, the winners and the losers, the great moments of our history.
