At no time in Nigeria would a state plan to demolish about 650 houses (as reported) that mostly belong to a certain part of the country without any iota of worry or concern except during war time.

These are not shanties built on railway lines. I am not saying that the poor deserve any less consideration, but the willingness to destroy at this scale takes my breath away. Maybe that’s the point. A show of force so total that our breath is taken.

1. Yesterday, when Peter Obi was asked about his plans for tackling the emergency in healthcare as more and more doctors are leaving, his answer was thoughtful.
Other politicians ignore the issues and device means to keep doctors against their will.

Not Peter Obi.

A Thread 2. Peter Obi will fund the sector adequately by cutting wastefulness in government. He compared the budget of the Aso Rock clinic with that of the entire health sector which looks after the entire population.

1. Anyone asking us to pray for Tinubu has no idea what prayer is. You can’t pray for Pharaoh. You pray to be free of Pharaoh.

Don’t pray when you refuse to fight for your vote.

A THREAD 2. If a poisonous snake slithered into your house, you don’t say a prayer not to be bitten and go to bed.

You. Get. Rid. Of. It!

Prayer is for God to bless your work and maybe show some undeserved grace. You can’t order God around. HE’s not your chaperone.

1. Never before has Nigerians felt this sense of foreboding for a presidency. It feels like one dark cloud is lifting as a much darker one immediately rolls in. Even the people who support this new ruiner-in-chief are pretend-happy. They’re everywhere making excuses.

A THREAD 2. They look at the pieces of unity they had wilfully broken in their quest to divide and conquer and are afraid. They thought that with disenfranchisements, under-aged voting, vote buying they would win handily. They said that on the 25th of February, lessons will be learnt.

1. One of Timaya’s first songs was about the Odi massacre.
“Them kill my mama, iyo. Them kill my papa, iyo.”

Today he’s singing “as e de pain them, e de sweet us” to spite the only force in Nigeria that is effectively resisting the lawlessness that made the massacre possible. twitter.com/i/web/status/1… 2. Every time I see this kind of about-face, I ask God to give me the grace to stay true to my convictions. What makes people fold and take actions opposite to their beliefs? I examine my life and find flaws that expose me to it.
For example, the instinct to rationalise for a

1. The vitriol quoted on this tweet is heartbreaking. The trolls bent on misinformation always wait for Peter Obi to use the word “North” in a sentence. They’ll descend on it with a venom.
PO says the vast lands is the new oil. Makes sense for him to say I will begin 2. lifting people out of poverty from the North. Why? It’s the new oil!

The wealth that will be created will benefit Northerners and yes begin the turn around for not just the Northern poor, but the Southern poor too. But these few spin doctors who turn a blind eye

1. I think that this is a badly scripted video which is part of a massive PROPAGANDA campaign.

I want to be wrong, but in the coming days there are things that should happen before we accept that this is a Peter Obi supporter.

Walk with me. 2. It’s a huge deal. This being disruptive-on-a-plane business. Anywhere it happens in the world it will capture the news. It will also attract the extreme displeasure of the authorities, not to mention pissed off passengers.

1. I am Igbo. I am proud of who we are. I love Nigeria. I love the best of her peoples and the many strengths. I love what she can be.

But dear compatriots, I will not apologise to anyone who thinks that my success is a threat.

WALK WITH ME 2. I am Igbo. Go to Onitsha. Go to Aba. Go to Alaba. Go to Kano and see wealthy men who brag with how many millionaires they had minted in the course of their lives more than how many millions they personally had. Millionaires who sold the same things o. Competing with their

1. Dear @pauladefarasin, I told a story about the man Peter Obi three days ago. I could link to it here and be done with it and hope that something therein stirs you. But that would be lazy and we can’t afford lazy when our dear country is on her knees.

A Thread 2. I am going to retell parts of that same story. I hope to make it speak to your pronouncements this past Sunday.

I told of a 41-year old who waded into Anambra state politics at a time when being a governor was worth a tiny more than their portrait on their office wall.

1. Are you worried about the ferocity of the political class and how they will offer violent resistance against Peter Obi? Let me help you worry less.

Come with me to Anambra just at the turn of the century from 2003.

Grab a drink, it’s a long thread. 2. The dedication you see today is the product of a deliberate and principled life. PO’s confidence is not the bravado of someone who doesn’t understand what they were getting into. It was forged in the fire of stiff resistance of brutal players in Anambra State politics.

If this country descends into anarchy, blame the Supreme Court most of all. I feel the temple of justice has been defiled. Weep beloved country. Today they’ve impugned the law of the land which criminalises anyone trying to run for two offices at once. Whatever the quoted technicalities in their judgment, this is the spirit of the law.

1. A lot has been said about Peter Obi’s response to the passionate and fearless woman on AY Live yesterday. She gave it hot hot to Peter Obi.

For me, an incredibly important takeaway was that it HAPPENED at all.

Let me explain … 2. What you saw was not a fluke. And it’s not just because we now have social media. As governor, PO took questions on ABS Radio (Anambra Broadcasting Service) after he had explained what the govt was doing. Not through spokespeople. Himself.
Furious people called in too.

1. The danger of loosing to PDAPC is not just that Nigeria will sink further into despair. There is also the matter captured by the proverb, “He who seeks to dethrone the kind must not fail, or the king will return with a vengeance.”

A Thread 2. The Obidient movement is the closest Nigerians have ever gotten to dethroning the old order. This is the first time that Nigerians of every persuasion and geography have come together under the banner of one man of their own accord. Not by the designs of the existing order.

Read this prose poem by Max Ehrman (1927). I found it enriching. Hope you will too.

Desiderata

1. Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. 2. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter,

Oil Theft and Bank Fraud: A Thread

1. In a bank, when there was a fraud by people within and the fraudsters had been identified and handed over to the police, all members of that branch were transferred to different locations across the country. 2. This ensured that people from these branches developed acute phobia for fraud. Those who had heard about the branch that got decimated worked hard not to be uprooted in like manner. People who came from these troubled branches were treated like pariahs ...

If APCs only crime was that in the greatest oil boom since the Gulf War NNPC has remitted zero dollars, it is enough for the govt to resign in shame.
Add an endless list of other failures ... my people... if an actual enemy tried, they couldn't have done worse! Seems folks under this tweet are outraged by my saying the "greatest oil boom" more than they're outraged by being robbed blind and 133 million people thrown into poverty. Okay boys and girls, you're right, it's not the greatest oil boom, it's just AN oil boom.

1. There are many Nigerians as smart, if not smarter than Peter Obi, but there is a vanishingly small number with his cojones. Above all, there is even less, if at all, with his reverence for the sanctity of public funds. Why is this important?

A Thread Image 2. A country will become what her people admire. Because leaders are so visible and powerful, being like them is aspirational. Whether we like it or not they become the yardstick by which we measure ourselves. Even more importantly, they are how outsiders see us.

It breaks my heart that we're here at all. I now see your tweets at midnight and they are clear. I cannot pretend to understand how you must feel being attacked and I don't say "Dearest Aisha" lightly. This is has definitely put the issue in the spotlight but it has also cut us open with rifts that I can only hope will heal. If any residual anger has seeped into your understanding of my thread, or if it annoys you entirely of its own merit, I apologise. I was troubled into this morning myself. My accusation applies to myself also.

1. Dearest @AishaYesufu you've had a night to think about this. You've had a mass of material presented on Peter Obi's answers to police brutality. Yet you woke up this morning, ignored them all and are still insisting that PO answers.
You're wrong. Accept it. Move on.

A Thread 2. Peter Obi has to answer questions about police brutality, no ifs, no buts. Truer words have never been spoken. But he has! In the moment, in 2020 and many times since? Asking an answered question, as though no answers existed, is lying by other means. But to what end?

Help Peter Obi win! Don't distract him!

A Thread. 2. Your concerns are valid. Your aspirations are germane. However, today we know enough about Peter Obi to believe that he is most likely to listen and respond to those things that matter to us. The most likely to heal our land socially and economically.
