My sustainability class just finished a module about disinformation. I had them write me a letter assuming they were flunking and arguing that they deserve an A, using the techniques of disinformation we discussed, like cherry picking, false experts and ad hominem. HOO-boy. 1/n
I encouraged them to use ad hominem, for entertainment value. The students read their letters aloud. Wackiness ensued, with much applause. (I led the applause — it was funny!) They used every tool, but they really took to ad hominem attacks. 2/n

If this decision was any dumber you’d have to water it once a week. And yes, I do have a law degree.

Coronavirus harms kids: of 2,143 cases of children under 18, 125 children — nearly 6 percent— developed very serious illness, and one 14-year-old boy with confirmed coronavirus infection died. nytimes.com/2020/03/17/hea…
The point I'm making in tweeting about this excellent story about a single study is that there are a lot of people out there still saying young people can't get coronavirus. They can, and the results can be devastating. Please read the story.

Harry Anderson has died. I first met him through our mutual friend Turk Pipkin, and we became friendly during my coverage of post-Katrina New Orleans, where he owned a bar, Oswald's, and tried to help the city recover. variety.com/2018/tv/news/h…
Oswald's was where I'd hang out after knocking off from my day's reporting. Harry had made his club a hangout for magicians. He performed there, astonishing tricks and feats of mental agility. After hours, he was good company. I did not always walk steadily back to my hotel.
