First of all, much as with copyright, it's *not* necessary to register a TM in order for goodwill to accrue to you due to its use & receive rights to protection, it's just a really good idea as you otherwise risk the sort of situation we're in. 2/

So what happened back then was, a lot of people worried about i.a. liability for donations, trademarks/copyright, etc. This was shortly before UltraPro LLC licensed the Doge photo from... @BillyM2k @JQT_CoinLinked Kabosu's owner and applied for a trademark for Doge, but the topic had come up before then multiple times re Dogecoin, the logos, etc. So I spoke with several of the developers back then as well as mods from /r/dogecoin, about ways to limit liability and that the most sensible...
