I found something interesting when I googled this thanks to a posting from, of all places, @delong’s blog. I think progressives who use the Wilhoit quote often miss the context too. bradford-delong.com/2018/12/frank-… “There is only conservatism. No other political philosophy actually exists. Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect...”

This is again an example of one of those people mad that we found a technology that allows people to do what they already want to do instead of a revolution aligned with their political views. The most famous of these is Malthusians who are continually mad that technology made it possible to increase crop yields and we now feed more people with less farmland instead of a whole bunch of the global population starving.

The @EdmontonOilers need to pull Skinner in period 2 and put in Campbell.

After going down 2-1 in the series, my preference would have been to start Campbell today, but now down 3-0 after 1 period that’s enough. Time for a change. At the very least Skinner should have saved the second goal. #LetsGoOilers

Really important insight here.

The typical leftist response is “what if we had neither”, but outside a thought experiment that has no applicability to the real world.

There will always be these Type A personalities. It’s way better for them to develop phallic rockets. Like I’m sorry, but a fully global perfect egalitarian society of all 8 billion humans will never happen. It’s a utopian fantasy.

There will always be people who want to “get ahead” or whatever.
